Downtime podcast is very good
Athletico Mince. It's got Bob Mortimer in it, so is therefore ace.
I always recommend Revisionist History by Malcolm Gladwell. There are 3 series, each podcast a different topic...really interesting. On a similar note, Jon Ronson’s Butterfly Effect is really good.
For laughs - Athletico Mince (dog dirt), Buckles, Beef & Dairy, Elis & John, Herring.
For Music - Song Exploder is good, and I love the Marc Riley & Rob Hughes A-Z’s (punk and psych so far, British rock next).
Interviews - James O’Brien, Pip (get over his interruptions), ComComPod, WTF
Kermode & Mayo & Infinite Monkey Cage always interesting.
Favourite so far has been the Singletracks Podcast.
Based in the USA however, so any talk of "Local Trails" is quite irrelevant, but the Podcasts they do pertaining to more general mountain biking stuff are far more interesting.
Hip-hop saved my life, very funny.
Freakonomics?
I'll second Bill Burr above.
Marc Maron is a current favourite. Lots of back catalogue greats to work through now I'm up to date with Adam Buxton
My subscription list is; Kermode & Mayo, Desert Island Discs, Vital mtb, Downtime, HKT, Richard Herring, Adam Buxton, Mince, Stones Throw, Daily Session and Hip Hop saved my life…
Some of these I find myself listening to out of habit; Kermode & Mayo ive played forever but find irritating these days, all the listener correspondence does my head in, as well as the smarmy in jokes and sycophancy! I do like the film content tho, even though I generally disagree with their reviews. Desert Island Discs and HKT depend on the guest, the HKT presenter has to be taken In very small doses!
The rest are all fantastic.
A couple of others ive enjoyed lately… Caliphate, interviews with a reformed ISIS soldier. And Jon Ronson’s Butterfly effect was brilliant too, looks at the effect pornhub has had on the performers and producers in the San Fernando Valley – not as seedy as it sounds!
News: The Financial Times podcasts are good.
Photography: http://theactivephotographer.com/ The ones with Hugh Graham are really good IMO.
