Can the STW hivemind suggest any simple, large-buttoned, non-smart phones suitable for an elderly gentleman?

It will only ever be for calls.

I was imagining a big-buttoned Nokia 3210... any positive recommendations?

Cheers 🙂

My gran uses a Nokia 105. It's a very simple phone but doesn't have the largest buttons available.

According to my 74 year old father, Doro is the answer.

He has thier Android thing, and has much preferred it over his Moto we bought 5 years ago.

January he ordered some big button simples phone from them and loves it.

Doro is the answer.

Another answer, if they have internet, is Alexa.

My 88 year old father has recently changed his big button dumb phone for a Motorola G6 Play, and finds it much easier to use. So it might be worth looking at simple smartphones?

Bit late to the thread but if he's got a landline it's worth asking the phone company if they do mobile phones for the elderly that share the number - my MiL has been using her phone number for years, and doesn't need a new one to try and distribute to her friends. (Of course if he's already been using a mobile phone for years and we're just talking about moving the SIM that's a different matter).

Had to change MIL's phone recently and went for a Nokia 105 as it was almost the same as her ancient Nokia - she's mid 80's and only has use of one hand, so gets numbers by pressing up and down. She was getting stung on a PAYG contract that was years old - O2 were not helpful and wanted MIL to go through a long T&C's to move her to contract (MIL has the mental capacity but CBA with anything financial etc) and despite us having POA, O2 wouldn't let us do it. We cancelled. New cheap contract with EE, but needed a new phone.

While I remember, another tip. When my dad's hearing and confusion were ganging up on him, phone calls were a waste of time. Putting on some over the ear headphones gave him both the hearing and concentration boost so he could have a few more nice chats to his sisters. Bloody hell it's got dusty in here.
