New back door going on tomorrow and my chippie recommended Osmo but can't find that locally.
Any recommendations for oil, to go on an Oak veneer door, that I can get from Screwfix or B&Q?
Guffaw!

Assos.
I used Rustin's Danish Oil on my wooden front door. It's south facing so gets dried and bleached by the sun. It depends how much full sun yours will get. Use Suncalc if you don't know.
On veneer I would use a proper exterior varnish, not oil. Sikkens, maybe.
If using Osmo make sure you use the correct stuff - there are lots of different products. We used Osmo Clear Exterior UV Oil on some bifolds and it looks great although lack of maintenance means some wood is beginning to darken ijn the grain. It has the benefit of not cracking like varnish can.

I have also used Sikkens in the past on solid oak window frames but still had similar issues to the above of wood darkening in the grain – it also started to lift and crack after a couple of years and was harder to maintain because it needed so much more prepping to retreat.
Use Sikkens and do what it say on the tin, those veneered doors are made up from small blocks of wood or at worst chips glued together, you what to protctect it from water ingress.

My bro in law is a cabinet maker and knows about this stuff.
While he seels his own stuff at a high cost, he told me that ANY oild will work fine. (Sunflower, veg, Olive...I didn't get into 10W-40 etc)
While he seals his own stuff at a high cost, he told me that ANY oil will work fine.
So what does he use himself (at high cost) and why doesn't he use sunflower if it works fine? Does this apply to external things like doors?
I can't remember, it sounds suitably niche/proprietary though.
It's indoor furniture, he's done the off outdoor thing also.
