In the test it was detonated at 4km and the fireball almost touched the ground and the maximum altitude of the bomber. The leadership wanted a 100Mt bomb but the designer knew it would hit the ground and cause terrible fallout so although the design could do 100Mt, it was modified down to ~50Mt
