My 32 year old Technics separates system is dying. The Amp usually needs about 4 on/off attempts to get it to work, the record player sounds like I'm playing sandpaper and unforgivably Technics didn't see fit to include a DAB radio when they made it.
So I want something that will play records, play CD's and play DAB radio. If it can record records to USB/SD cards that would be nice, but not essential. It needs to sound "OK" at least. I'm not going to spend £10k on magic crystals to clean up the mains input or anything like that, it just needs to sound better than a £30 bluetooth speaker.
I'm not interested in internet connected anything. Our internet is slow and we have limited capacity so if someone is streaming TV and someone else wants BBC sounds then both start buffering.
I could reuse my existing speakers, but need to buy everything else.
Reviews look OK if you add a sub woofer to it, but maybe a bit cheap?
Any suggestions? Budget is £500, could go a little bit more for something that's really worth it.
Thanks!

If you can get any in stock.
Denon shoebox like the DM41. https://www.richersounds.com/denon-dm41-dab-blk.html
Then a turntable that can do line level (to save getting a phono stage) like> https://www.richersounds.com/audio-technica-lp60xusb-gun-metal.html <
Two suggestions for the same thing - that must be a first on STW!
That does look like exactly what I'm looking for so unless anyone has any other suggestions I'll go for that.
Many thanks.
Can't advise on turntable, but I've had an older version of that Denon unit for 15 years and it's superb. Now relegated for use in the garage/mancave where it's powering a smaller set of bookshelf speakers (plus a big sub...) and still impresses me for the size of it.
If it can record records to USB/SD cards
WaaahhT!? you can get hifidelity systems that do that now? Oh man, I'm still using minidiscs!
gobuchul and simon_g are clearly the same person. And he probably works for Richer Sounds 🙂
Another one to second the Denon DM41DAB, sat here listening to mine now, paired mine with Q-Acoustics 30201 speakers and Rega P1 turntable and it is a great sound for a small system.
I'd be tempted to go 2nd hand and get an Arcam Solo off ebay. I'd also look at the Project Debut turntable - I've had one for years and its great.

I've got the non-DAB version of that Denon in my 'dumb' hifi question, and I'd also say for the price it's been faultless for 15 years.
