You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
So its renewal time, and my mind is boggled with the stuff out there. I've currently got a Samsung Galaxy Ace which is pretty useless - it was my first smartphone and was cheap. Otherwise its failed in pretty much every respect - just isnt man enough to cope with any apps, taking photos, web browsing.
So whats good on monthly contract for about that sort of ££? Will I be able to get 4G and a reasonable amount of data? Quite keen to have some remote web access for when I'm out and about, half decent camera, and the opportunity to see what a smartphone can do which the Ace didnt allow.
I don't know if they are still doing such good deals as they used to, but buymobilephone.net had some cracking deals when I came to renewal time.
Ended up with a Sony Xperia T which was still current but on the way out; on Three with 300mins, 5000 texts and unlimited data (this was before 4G) for £18/month. The phone was free.
Have a look around their website.
Seems like less and less deals now are for unlimited data though, so depends what you are after, really.
A Samsung Galaxy S3 is still a cracking phone, should be available on most networks with decent packages for £20 per month. The S4 mini likewise is a great phone if you want something smaller, the S3 mini is a bit weak. The Ace unfortunately was very flawed with its limited internal memory and naff processor.
Buy a phone for around £200 and get a SIM only deal for around £10/month. You should save a few quid and have better flexibility on your usage.
Phone plus a sim only deal. If you don't have the cash for the phone, Giffgaff do a system where you can finance a phone separately through P2P lending at a good rate, I got an Experia something or other for about £8 a month and then a £10 sim deal.
Motorola Moto 4G comes well inside this budget - about £13/month at Tesco
Is the GiffGaff contract on 4G? Doesn't actually say on their website as far as I can see.
Yes, you can get 4G on Giffgaff - it's a trial package at the mo but i seem to be able to renew it monthly.
D'oh! Talkmobile (current provider) have been chasing me to choose an upgrade option. Turns out they don't do 4G !!
Guess I'll wait a month or so and move to someone else then.
If you dont mind a factory Refurb then THIStakes some beating.
Me and the missus have one each, cracking phone for the£

Buy s/h and just get a SIM-only deal.
