Hi,
I've used bow saws for decades, but the current one is acting kinda strange. It sticks in the wood (on the pull stroke I think) and is a real pain to use on anything bigger than very small branches. I tried oiling it, but that didn't help. It's a new blade, the blade is pretty tight.
I end up having to push down on the bit of wood I'm cutting to open up the cut, but of course that only works on pissy little bits of wood.
Help.
Not pulling it straight causes it to bind.
good point. But I don't think that's the issue initially. I'm sure it is once it starts to bind and I put my left hand over my right hand to push down on the log end to open up the cut.
But something's causing it to bind before that point
cheers tiggs. I'll have a look.
not enough tension in the blade would be my suggestion, or it is thinner/flexier than you are used to and bending in the wood. or is it resinous wood like leyland cypress?
Probably not your problem, but mine was really rusty, having left it out in the rain ny accident.
I sprayed some silicone spray on it and it works OK now (just for firewood, not serious use)
The spray is good for bikes too - hope recommend silicone spray to lube the pistons in their brakes - i seem to be finding lots of uses for it around the house!
