Sorry for the stupid question, but what sort of LED bulb would one be looking for to fit to a floor standing reading lamp?
Don't mean fitting, more how much watt/lumen/colour etc. As don't want to go too far either way.
Assuming something like this, or would that lead to...
Something with a high CRI and a 5700k(ish) temperature.
You'll want warm white then just the lowest wattage you can find. Maybe 3-4 watt
I'd get a powerful one and dim it down when needed, more flexible.
But if lamp doesn't have a dimmer?
I am more confused than I was earlier.
Henry Ford was on to something...
Some led bulbs are available with a remote control dimmer. Failing that just buy one that says it's equivalent to a bulb you have previously liked (eg by lumens or watts)

I doubt you want a black one though 😉
Maybe a Philips, in my experience cheap/no brand bulbs don't last long.
Just buy a warm white with the appropriate fitting from Wilco for £3-4.
It's what I did; works just fine.
Dunno what the lamp is, it's a little anglepoise analogue I 'inherited' from where I used to work, it had one of those horrid low energy things, the LED is a vast improvement.
I was assuming your books had pictures 🙂
