Stumpy you must tell us where these magical blankets can be found. Mrs PF also likes the house like a sauna.

The Cayuga duck eggs we hatched..

@cloudnine my partner has hatched ducks at the care home she manages a few times. She sets it up so that the whole process from incubation onwards is in a public space. Normally she is reasonably successful so three or four eggs hatch. The people she supports really enjoy seeing and being part of the the process - keeping the incubator topped up, feeding the chicks etc

2 things for me.
A pair of insulated army surplus trousers which are awesome for after swimming and a new really warm bobble hat as it keeps my head and ears warm.

Some northern soul and girl group/ soul vocal 45s from John Manship. And a brass thingy so that I could play them (thought the records were damaged as some came with a big hole for the spindle. Have subsequently learnt that the torque on a 45 meant that the hole would wear so they were designed with a bigger one blah blah).

I've never heard that, I thought it was so they could be used with an autochanger or jukebox, if you saw records s/h with the centre pushed out it usually meant they'd had a hard life! New 45s used to come with the centre disc attached with 3 tabs so they could just be pushed out. I presume your brass thingy is just an adapter placed over a standard spindle so they'll fit.

Second hand Subwoofers from eBay.

The kitchen has ceiling speakers that were lacking depth but I'd not cabled for a sub when we built and couldn't work out how to run cables. Suddenly occurred that there were probably wireless links now (and there are) and picked up a second hand BK Electronics XLS200 from eBay for half the new price.

It made such a difference to the sound in the kitchen that I started thinking about the office as the Monitor Audio Radius 90 speakers (that were my living room surrounds in the last house) are only rated down to 80hz. eBay again, this time an MJ Acoustics Pro50 mk3 at £160 (against a rrp of £550!). Like the BK it's a 10" but less powerful and a smaller box but really goes impressively low.

There's amazing value to be had with used hifi kit - the office kit is a Teac AH300mk2 Amp and DAB tuner that I paid about £80 for. When I was looking for the subs there was amazing value to be had on stuff like high end Monitor Audio floor standers.

Nice. I've never, ever come across anyone shooting that before. (I used to shoot HT.)

I’ve never heard that, I thought it was so they could be used with an autochanger or jukebox,

Yeah, that's obviously bobbins. Like, friction doesn't exist.

It's for jukeboxes. An autochanger (at least, the one I had in a past life) used the standard spindle. Your three tabs thing that looked like the Isle of Man logo was a retro-fit to 'repair' singles that previously had the middles knocked out to go in a jukebox, you could buy them separately. They didn't come like that to my recollection.

Could be wrong, the last time I played a record was on a midi system in the 90s.

A tub of 80 fuses, 3, 5, 10, and 13 amp varieties. I'll never need to take apart a plug again only to find the fuse already missing and every appliance I ever pick up will always have a fuse in. What a dream come true!

A tub of 80 fuses

Internet purchase where it was twice the cost of 1 fuse? I now have an excessively sized box of split pins for this reason, and it is very useful if I need a split pin. Or something can be inventively fixed with a split pin.

Boot dryer was probably last year's best purchase, and I featured it in this blog post...
http://unduro.co.uk/mtb/my-top-11-of-2020/

You can still get ones like this off Amazon for about £25 AFAIK.

This year, probably a one-ride old Maxxis Assegai in Maxxgrip with the Double Down carcass off eBay. All the grip, all the time.

27” Iiyama monitor for WFH

3 bespoke willow panels for the end of the garden to separate us from our dim neighbours who think it’s ok to clap for carers and then have the entire street round for a party every Thursday!

Garden bench, to sit and admire said willow panels.

Folding squat rack and weights for the garage.

(Sorry couldn’t chose one!)

I need some wire for a doorbell. I can only find what I want in 100m rolls. If anyone needs a 97m roll of wire, let me know.

New primitive class bow.

You must be a better shot than me looking at the colour of those arrows.

I'm not sure if for a lot of people it is in the spirit of the primitive class, I imagine their are a few trying to come up with wording to exclude bows like that

Not sweaty for me, mind you I've not used them above 10 degrees yet.

But what about your crouch? Can you use them when just sitting on your bike?

@alexpalacefan - only just seen this.
Here's a link below, although there's tons of alternatives. They were on offer when I started looking around mid-Jan, so it doesn't appear to be a 'flash' sale.
I thought it was expensive for what it is, but it's really well made & should last bloody ages!

@johnners yep it’s just an adapter not sure how hard a life they’ve had as in mint/ near mint condition. I’m also not entirely sure how correct that is with the torque as I’m new to this vinyl thing and was just a random website/ vinyl fan who had a history of the different formats and a description of the adapter I was looking for!

It's probably safe to say it's more likely to be the large contact area between the record face and the platter that rotates the disc rather than an interference fit with the spindle. If nothing else such a tight fit would make them a bugger to get on and off your turntable!

Definitely coffee - Pact and Rave subscriptions. Really opened my eyes to the difference between supermarket coffee and (even modestly) more premium products, and enjoyed discovering the different flavours!

The PS5 I managed to get at the end of January...

That and Spare Ribs by the Sleaford Mods ( coloured vinyl and fancy sleeve that you wouldn’t get by downloading it 😜 )

I thought the only reason people got the Occulus Quest was for the added benefit of having an in-built browser. For browsing for, ahem, things. Things that are now available in simulated 3D.

Tempur contour pillow.

Been meaning to try one for years, and I wish I had, it is brilliant. Lockdown sleeps have been long and comfy and I no longer have intermittent fights with my pillow during the night or wake up with a stiff neck.

That, and all the vinyl I've been getting delivered from my local record shop and the odd bits of hi-fi kit off ebay.

My Attelier Slash kite.
Not been able to go to the beach during this latest lockdown, but the nearby football field is OK.
Nice addition to the rest of my kite fleet!

Race poncho - cleared down my stack of old race tshirts and have something a bit lighter than a dryrobe to muck about in after races (or whenever) - and the OH should now be able to spot where I've wandered off to, as race tshirts tend towards the hiviz.... Think the Coat Of Many Colours
