It's pointless I agree, anything with less than 150 willy waving calories in it per serving isn't worth my time.

I ****ing love it.. I haven't eaten anything else other than celery for over 14 years now and I'm a right porky bastard too.. I could be on one of those freaky eaters tv programmes..

I love it, I love songs about it too and even use it in the bedroom to spice up mine and the wife's love life..
Forced celery is best, grown like rhubarb in darkened sheds..
Mimpets Crowning Glory is the best variety

(I understand it's a pisstake thread but).. I hate the stuff raw but it great for stock's, soup, casseroles and no doubt numerous other cooked recipes. Any you don't use, just chop it up and freeze it.

Nope. Sorry, I can't let that go. It's horrid, I even fish it out of stir fry, soup or whatever else it has infiltrated.

Stringy, bitter, indigestion inducing, calorie deficient. It's not even a food as it has no intrinsic nutritional value. You might as well eat grass. Mind you though, I love rice and that is basically grass seed (as is wheat).

Whatever. The stuff is horrid. Even beetroot is nice in borscht for pity's sake.

Dunking in salt being one of the two ways that we humans (and our modern chefs) have of enhancing the taste of something that doesn't actually taste very nice itself. The other being the addition of fats, strangely that's how things like Philadelphia are marketed, dunked with celery!

Mmmmmmmmm. Bloody Mary. Now there's a thing.

The single best hangover cure there is. Especially if it has horse radish and loads of Worcester sauce in it. They used to do a cracking one in the bar opposite my work in my youthful days in that London. It was the only thing that could take the edge off of the effects of 'Wednesday Club'.

There are (were) only two rules of Wednesday club.

1. You didn't talk about Wednesday club.
2. You only had to stay for one drink after work - the rest was down to your own willpower.

Needless to say everyone was still there at chucking out time, absolutely shitfaced.

All part of growing up.

Anyway, I digress.
