HIB one appears to have suffled off this mortal coil. Didn't last particularly long so not hugely keen to replace like for like.
Apart from knowing what size I need (which will involve a trip to the loft) are there a couple of decent brands out there to look for? (Once I've checked all the usual stuff to ensure it has indeed failed and not just got a bird stuck in it or fused blown...)
I fitted an Xpelair last year and not had any issues. Picked it as it’s meant to be quiet, but TBH I don’t notice it’s any quieter than the one it replaced.
Humidistat version seem to die quicker than over run timer versions.
Look for something under 40db , mount it off the rafters if you can by hanging off 4 wires , be way quieter.
Also look at flow rate V noise and always ensure air can get into the bathroom under the door or the fan won't draw against a vacuum efficiently
Manrose (as already mentioned) - had them for many years with no issues & they are not expensive.
Make sure you use insulated flexible ducting rather than rigid plastic - will be much quieter. You can also alter the fan speed to deal with any noise.
It is quite freaky how often a topic on this forum pops up that is exactly the issue or dilemma I'm having. Bizarre.

Same thing happened to me when the Picolax topic popped up
The Manrose and insulated ducting clearly work at ours, it’s 5m long and 6” diameter. Just need to put back the vent which seems to have come dislodged…
