It'll be quite old now so not sure if its still available anywhere but 'Robin and Josie's Utter Shambles' has a similar vibe to RHLSTP in terms of being a longer form, more in depth interview with comedians. I quite like that in podcasts - that there isn't the 'broadcast clock' of TV and radio and things are as long as they need to be.
In that Radio 4 vibe - not on iplayer but findable of podcast platforms is the whole back catlalogue of 'The Unbelievable Truth' which is quite binge-able. It's being running for longer than you realise so theres loads of episodes, and while its not topical - which makes it quite timeless - its quite surprising to get occasional casual references to George Bush in early episodes.

Simon Evans Goes to Market. A truly fascinating and very funny history of how commodity markets work, money is created and economics. I know it sounds incredibly boring but it really isn't, especially when Mr. Evans gets into the sex robots.

Out To Lunch is a great collection of interviews by Jay Rayner to a wide range of famous people from a lot of differing backgrounds over a lunch in nice restaurants. Jay has recently been replaced by Ade Edmondson.
I've also been addicted to We Have Ways of Making You Talk for years. A great 2nd World War podcast hosted by Al Murray & James Holland. Been going for over 700 episodes now and still fascinating.

Stuff the British stole - (Spotify) The Parthenon marbles obviously, but also the back story of loads of other things Britain plundered from around the world. Really obscure, fascinating and often shameful stuff I'd never heard of.
The Bomb - (Sounds and Spotify) series one about Leo Szilard who first realised the possibility of a nuclear chain reaction in the 1920s and 30s and his efforts to convince sceptical scientists (even Einstein) of the potential and implications if Nazi Germany got there first.
Series 2 about Klaus Fuchs - the German/British physicist who worked on the Manhattan project but passed everything he knew to the Soviets, leading to their own bomb.
Spitfire - BBC world service podcast (on Sounds and Spotify). Less about the aircraft, more about the people who built it, ferried it, fixed it etc.

Yeah, forgot to mention it was an ABC podcast. My daughter recommended it to me and I confess I was a bit reluctant initially and was braced for some Aussie Brit bashing, due to the provocative title! It's really not like that at all though. It's objective and nuanced, recognising that attitudes were of their time. It also acknowledges good and bad stuff done by all the colonial powers as well as by locals in the countries which were the 'scenes of the crimes'.

The last edition I listened to was about Herdwick sheep, very interesting when combined with efforts to preserve the fells and how good intentions can have unexpected consequences.

The Space Above Us - started in about 2016 and has an episode (sometimes two) dedicated to every manned NASA space flight. Releases every two weeks so it'll take me ages to catch up as I've only just finished the SpaceLab episodes. It's sometimes heavy on detail, but I don't mind that, and each ep is only about 30 minutes long, so doable without getting bogged down in nuance. The presenter is a guy called JP, and his enthusiasm is next-level, a proper space nerd. But he does work for NASA...

Malcolm Gladwell is very persuasive and talks a good game. It doesn't mean that his personal take on history or anything else is more correct than others, I read his "Bomber Mafia" book and like some other pop science books (Homo Deus, Guns Germs Steel spring to mind) it's a good read and well told, but still 'mostly' bollocks. Having said that his recent series on gun control was very interesting.

I think there are some great and some really annoying pods mentioned above, but that's the joy of them innit - and it'd be churlish of me to slag other peoples' suggestions off.

My go-to podcast is Stuff you Should Know. Interesting mix of science/nature/history/politics/psychology etc. 2 laid back American guys (with very soothing voices so it’s good to fall asleep too as well 😂) who pick a subject they know little/nothing about, research it, then present it (with science/detail) in an easy to understand way. They’ve been going a long time so about 1500 episodes so far I think!

Ian Dunt and Dorian Lynskey look into current hot button words, ideas phrases and thinkers and dig into where they came from, why and what thy actually mean.
Has the potential to be a solid hour of tedious smug smart arses going 'well aaaahctually' but I find it quite fun and very enlightening.

Uncharted - BBC sounds/Hannah Fry. I'd listen/watch anything from her. These are short episodes about what's hidden in the data/how single charts have made a massive difference. Sounds like it shouldn't work on Audio. It does. Also CodeBreaker if it's still on Sounds is another great podcast by HF.
+1 for the Ride Companion, though just downloaded the latest ep, with Davi talking to someone who “speaks with the dead”. Always keep an open mind but 👀
