I'm also having the garage re-floored, it's not level so it's apparently having a latex self levelling compound, then whatever 'sprung' flooring I want on top.

I want it to be easy to keep clean, capable of withstanding oil spills, a sensible colour so I can see bearings, springs, bolts etc when I drop them and cheap.

Collective recommendations please?

I’ve got concrete. I’d recommend painting it. Other than that, I’m oot. What’s a sprung floor and why do you need one in a garage?

Mine is just concrete with rubber matting on top - the interlocking jigsaw squares from Halfords.

Warm enough, soft, good to work on. Easily replaced. Very pleased.

Sprung floors are for aerobics studios aren't they?

I'd go polished concrete treated with sealer (in an ideal world), or just paint the concrete & add mats / carpet to the work areas to keep the cold at bay.

I just painted garage floor paint over the self leveling compound. Works a treat, keeps the dust down, wears well, can be cleaned, plus it's cheap. The beauty of the self leveling compound is that it doesn't take forever to dry so you don't have to wait too long to paint it.

Painted ours six years ago. Has a car on it most days. Put the Halfords interlock mats in the back part for bike storage

And secure as possible

If you don't want to be standing on concrete then cheapest / most robust option is just laying t&g chipboard over it and giving it a coat of paint. If you want a bit of spring put underlay underneath.

Gives you a floor that is warmer under foot, easy to sweep/mop up and also means you can fix things in place when you're working on them by just screwing them to the floor.
