Any recommendations? iTunes only 'fraid.
I like films like: Inception, the Insider, Badwr Meinhoff, Munich, Bourne, Bond, Jean du Florette, Big Blue, Life is Beautiful, Apocalypse Now, High Fidelity, etc
Sicaro? Man on Fire,
It's a few years old now but have you seen Ex-Machina? Worth a look. Sicario is pretty decent too but I was just left a tiny bit underwhelmed by the ending.
If you like Bourne/Bond, The Accountant was better than I'd expected.
Sicario looks ok, what's Blunt like tho as I was a bit underwhelmed by her performance in Girl on Train...
Completely and utterly unconvincing. She's okay when she has to look miserable or upset at something but when she needs to move around, say with a gun ( I think she even has a fight scene iirc) it's laughable.
Luckily Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Torro are pretty excellent.
Before Sunrise (1998) Ethan Hawke & Julie Delpie
Nesbo's Headhunters (2011)
The Intouchables (2011)
All very different. All sublimely entertaining IMO
Another vote for Ex Machina of you've not seen it.
'City of God' if you like newish stuff, 'Rio Bravo' if you like older movies.
(not sure there in itunes though)
The Big Lebowski
21 Grams
Triangle
Or
Put Pearl Harbor on and go for a ride.
If you like Bourne/Bond, The Accountant was better than I'd expected.
Sorry, it's got Ben Affleck in it!!!
Also a fan of the Coen bros, so seen Big Lebowski...
How about a modern day cowboy movie ?
Hell or high Water
Action with social commentary.... Really enjoyed it. In fact found myself on the edge of my seat towards the end.
And
Jeff Bridges is in it
Fury is on terrestrial at 9.
Last film I watched was 'The Road' - post-apocalyptic film where not that much happens but is big on tension, atmosphere and plain dread. Based on a pulitzer prize winning book. Its not one to watch if you're feeling a bit emotionally unstable though as I was. I blubbed like a baby at the end.
EDIT: I thought it was brilliant however
The greasy strangler
The Road ... Film and book are old favourites on here.
And as much I.... enjoyed? No... Loved? No... was transfixed? Yeah ... by both, now I've got a lad coming up to that age they might leave even more of an impression. And I'm honestly a little bit scared by that.... haunting !!
Right, The Road is on my list.
If"The Way" is available (Martin Sheen) worth a watch.
Young Offenders is very amusing, Irish film about two chavs trying to make it big. Good bit of biking in it too.
Whiplash is brilliant
Anything at all by the Coen brothers would do it for me.
Anything at all by the Coen brothers would do it for me
+1 No Country for Old Men or O Brother Where Art Thou? are still regular faves after OD'ing on the TBL
Apocalypto
Or ...........Enter the Dragon
Tinker Tailor soldier spy....
Another suggestion for The Accountant.
In Bruges
Kingsman tickled me recently, it's absurd but just the right side of absurd.
True Grit may still be on iplayer. A really excellent film.
Anything at all by the Coen brothers would do it for me.
...except Hail Caesar.
Edge of Tomorrow is a hoot. Ridiculous, but good. Not only Blunt but Cruise too so you'll have to forgive it a lot before you even start. I liked Sicario.
Or like davros says, True Grit if it's still on iPlayer for nowt.
The Road awaits..
Just in time because I forgot it's (W)Red Nose Day innit.. and I can't stand RND.
Blue Ruin - lovely low budget revenge movie
Threads. Always cheery.
"]Anything at all by the Coen brothers would do it for me."
Yep.
I think there's one on the BBC I player at the moment . "A simple plan" if my memory serves me ...
That version of True Grit is indeed most excellent 🙂 +1
Yep... True Grit is good
And
Jeff Bridges is in it
Is he officially now STW's favourite actor?
Thunderbolt and Lightfoot anyone?
What did you end up watching OP?

What did you end up watching OP?
I have bookmarked some of the suggestions, but ended up watching Ferris Buellers Day Off and then fell asleep after the surf scene in Apocalypse Now 🙂
Django Unchained.
Mr Church.
Quite enjoyed it.
