MrsJ wants a new one. Needs to occasionally carry 2 adults plus 2 tweenagers.
I've always liked fords and we had a hire one last summer which was excellent.
So which fiesta engine or alternatives? I'm not a brand snob, so anything considered.
Probably lease or PCP

The wife got a 1.0 ecoboost Fiesta about 6 months ago, it's been a brilliant little car so far. It's certainly not like the small engines of yesteryear, plenty of low down torque and a cool engine note.

Dacia Sandero for the cheap and not very trendy car.

Winning small car awards all over the show.

You can only recommend cars that you would drive, would you? 😉

I bloody wouldn't!

Fiat Panda 1.2 a hoot to drive and we managed to get our family of 4 to Wales and back loaded up for a holiday no problems 😀 (my car threw a coil pack the day before).

Cheap and cheerful and the fire engine is a good 'un.

We have just bought a Fiesta Titanium X. Roughly £6.5k off list price, 3k miles

Stunning car for the money. Only got the 100bhp Eco engine which appears plenty fast enough at minute.

Edit: hired a Panda in the summer. Not in the same league as Fiesta, and certainly doesn't drive anything like as well as theFiesta

If I was in the market for a Fiesta class car I'd go with the Fiesta.

Best in class as far as I'm concerned. Handles well, good spec, decent engine and you can get ££££££ of the cost of a new one by buying nearly new having let someone else suffer the depreciation.

Reliable to boot also.

Mrs Danny has a Honda Jazz and for a Japanese car it has medium term issues. The clutch thrust bearing will need doing at around 60000 miles maybe a little bit more. £450 job. The locks are also made of cheese metal and need refurbishing at some point.

VAG group cars are nice but expensive (Seat excepting) and whilst I quite like the larger Citroëns the DS3 is a horrid little thing.

As a slightly leftfield choice then the Suzuki Swift...

Wife has a 1.6 petrol Kia Soul - nice upright position, lots of toys, 7 year warranty. We chose it over a Polo.

Ford fusion, basically a fiesta I think, with different exterior and interior.

Yup Honda Jazz all the way, had mine for 3 years now, will be 5 years old in May, currently on 44k miles, lots around.
The CVT version is great, had to drive through central London last night, glad it wasn't a manual version.

The car will replace a Kia Soul. Decent car, but we want petrol now. I need to have a look at the Hondas, but the deals on fiestas are pretty good at the moment.
The 1.0 ecoboost appears to be the engine of choice - need to sort a test drive and then check the numbers against a mini.

We've just got back from holiday and instead of the hire car I booked (bog basic Skoda Citigo) we got presented with an Audi A1 1.4 TFSi DSG.

Absolutely no idea of its cost, but a real nice drive, quick off the mark and go cart like handling with seemingly very good build quality. Although having said that, it could have been because I paid for 'stock car insurance' and everybody knows a fully insured hire car is the fastest thing on earth!

1.0 Hyundai i10... Brilliant little things. Very spacious. Surprisingly nippy. Well equipped.

Bloke I was working with in Germany had a Ford Ecosport which was like a Fiesta with added height.

It felt quite plasticky inside but was nice to be in, had some interesting design touches and because it was quite upright there seemed to be plenty of room.

I got a fiesta with the 1.0 Ecoboost a few months ago, great little car with loads of power for such a small engine. I tried the 1.4 which felt sluggish and slow compared to mine.

Ford are now offering the 1.0 ecoboost engine in 100, 125, and 140 bhp variants. I'm very happy with the 125bhp version in the Focus. 140 in a Fiesta would be great.

Can you buy a crap car these days (French and Italian excepted)? We bought our Skoda based in part on how good the dealers were. No point having a theoretically excellent car with a dealer that CBA as all brands go wrong...

I would be looking at the B-Max. Almost Fiesta like handling and more practical.

I've got a fiesta ST. Not withstanding the cracking ecoboost engine it's a great car all round, comfortable, good level of kit and security and really good on fuel, about £40 fills the tank. A none ST version would be equally good I'm sure, probably better on MPG; I can get 47 on a long run, 35 around town.

Just had the Nissan on hire in Spain for work. Guttless. Maybe OK about town but very hard work on the slightest incline.

Mmmm - you've got a point. A large part of the reasoning for my last car was about the dealer.

Honda Jazz if interior cleverness is a factor. The only small car I found that could fit 4 tall adults in comfort. You can also fit 2 bikes in the rear seating space with front wheels off and the rear seats up cinema seat style. Very clever.
