If you’re doing more than a few minutes of dirty work get a proper respirator mask with replaceable filters. So much better and easier to breathe in than the disposable type.
I’ve used one of these while doing all sorts of filthy jobs in our place and it’s worked out fairly well. Only slight issue is getting a good fit, when going for a mask and goggles combination, can require a bit of fiddling.

I went full on for doing the attic insulation, and I wouldn't use anything else now. excellent, easy breathing, NO internal dust at all after several hours at it.... and glasses don't steam up! hurrah
