Seems reasonably normal wear and tear stuff. The massive mileage inaccuracy is probably a mistake keying the information into the system by the tester.

Well, its a high milage worn out car - what I think of it depends on what price you want to pay for it. I used to buy old cars for a grand or less, so long as they were taxed and tested for a year. I was happy if they lasted another year without spending anything on them.

Only thing that would concern me on those advisories is this...

Offside Front Outer Drive shaft joint constant velocity boot severely deteriorated (6.1.7 (g) (i))

...could be a simple fix, could be a complex strip down to get to it.

Shocks and brakes are easy fixes.

Errr - what went off with mileage in Feb 17 - was 161,157 miles now showing as 140,504 miles!?

I can't see a logical explanation for the mileages. Even if you assume the 161k in 2017 is a typo, the mileage between 2016 and 2018 is very low compared to the rest of the usage. Can you get sight of the V5 to find out how many owners?

53,000 miles added 2015 to 2016
87,000 miles added 2016 to 2017
...then loses 80,000 miles.

If in doubt walk away.

I had a dodgy milage on my old van, knocked the display in km but didn't bother me. One mot my mileage looked huge then I eventually swapped the display back to miles and the mileage reason dropped

It's either a high mileage small van, or a clocked very high mileage small van.

Would seem almost too blatant to be the latter? But as mentioned above it will depend on owners.. why the big change in yearly mileage?

Its had a haircut.

Its literally been used non stop for most of its life doing taxi work/courier/parts delivery? Possible front end bump early and a pair of replacement lights that then needed adjustments.

What's the interior like especially driver's seat bolster? steering wheel worn smooth? Pedal rubbers etc?

It would have to be very cheap for me to buy it.

There's an oddity in the timings too - it goes from being tested every June to having done over 50k miles before being tested in Feb 16 when it wasn't due, so thats 53k in 8 months. This makes the 160k reading believable as 87k in 12 months is roughly consistent with 7k per month over those 18 months.

I'd walk away or assume its done 100k more miles than is being reported now.

There's enough cause for concern for me to just find another Van/mini bus or whatever it is.

Obliviously it's old enough to have had a few owners, but it only does 6391 miles in 1 year.

Then they MOT it again 3 months later and it's done and extra 15k miles that time..

Then it does 52k miles in 8 months...

Then, it does 87K miles in a year.

Loses 81k miles the following year.

does another 20k miles the year after.

Then finally, 14 or so months later (cos Covid) it's gained another 35k miles.

Who knows what happened to the mileage in 2016, maybe the it needed a new set of clocks, who knows why it got MOT'd 3 times in 2 years.

I'd personally think that Van has done about 5k miles a month since it went into service, is it an former Taxi? That might explain the MOT before it's 3 years old thing.

Good spot on the dates - first MOTed in March '15 then tested again in June '15! Why a retest after 3 months - written-off and repaired perhaps?

All kinds of weird with that history.

I'm highly doubtful that mileage is a 'mistake'. Even the first test at three years old... Only 6,000 miles? Likely it has been messed with already...

But if it's a 2014 van it shouldn't have been motd until 2017 first time round. Import motd when it was registered? Two mots close together could have been police or vosa stop and made to do it because of dodgy condition?
Sounds well suss but I'd be curious to see what the story is.

Hotstuff, that definitely points to it being a taxi then, the proper ones have to be MOT'd from one year old. Could even have been double manned and done two shifts a day/night so the mileage could be anything...60,000 not 6,000 perhaps!!!

Ah right, didn't know that but makes sense right enough. Sorry I just thought van when I saw it was a Partner but obviously the car /taxi thing is a more likely scenario.

No need to apologise, I hadn't noticed it was only a year old at first MOT :). Its a Teepee model which I presume is an MPV

There are better options.

By that I mean ones with less questionable pasts.

Mileage in my old van went doolally, something like 102, 112, 120, 130, 97, 108, 117
Instrument panel packed up, easier and cheaper just to stick another one in than get it fixed.
My first thought would that.

So at best in a non cynical world it has 240k on the clock.

Irrespective of how they got to the milage on the clock

The cars shagged there are better options unless this is like 6-700 quid

WK reg is Cornwall, I wonder where it has been? That's a lot of miles around Cornwall, high millage motorway miles I can live with, but Cornish roads?

I would walk away, but for reference the MOT history of my wife fiesta includes the statement;

Front Body insecure and dangerous to other road users (6.1.B.1b)

We have owned the car from new and this is clearly not accurate as the front end is all still original. The MOT lists a pass zero miles later on the same day so the garage did not even have a bump and repaired it before giving it back to me 😉

TLDR - Online MOT history is not 100% accurate

It’s the version with windows in the back, and seats in. One thing that occurs to me, because it’s the sort of vehicle I’ve been driving as part of my job for five years, and that’s a mobility vehicle; Berlingo/Partner, Connect, etc are very popular with Motability clients, as they’re perfect for having a lift/ramp in the back. The MOT oddity may be as a result of damage that could have written it off, but was repaired and MOT’d again to prove roadworthiness.
Might explain some of the mileages as well, and it’s worth mentioning that such vehicles are very popular with taxi drivers in Eire, because to get a taxi license the driver has to have a vehicle accessible for disabled passengers, a former Motability car with a ramp already fitted is much sought after, we get a lot go through at work, it’s what we do, and I’ve spoken to a logistics driver from Eire who’d come across specifically to pick one up and take it back for someone.

Why has it been MOT tested after 1 yr?
2017 should be the first MOT year no?
So it’s been a commercial vehicle then.
Walk away. It’s also a Peugeot.
