I call it a "portfolio of employment" 🙂
So not actually that many IT people then. 😉
I fight a constant battle against nefarious individuals and organisations intent on causing mayhem, destruction, theft and death. I meet shadowy government figures in secret locations who tell me who these people are and then how best to defend our resources against them. I am the last line of defence. I guard us while we sleep.
In short, I work in IT security.
I get to play bikes and get paid for it 🙂

Cool job yesterday in ExCeL London - Destination StarTrek nursing a couple of key editors and seeing all 5 captains interviewed by John Barrowman - the audience were 'interesting' but really friendly even if they were dressed up as Klingons/Federation/Borg etc may share some pics later!
Also am MD for a web application development company - but I'm just the looks of the outfit, the proper geeks and propellorheads are all based in 'ull.

Unfortunately I only get paid for 170 days a year
That's funny because I only work about 170 days a year and get paid only when I'm at work too. Most odd that only getting paid when you actually at work.

Operations at a local cycling holiday company. If you ring us I answer the phone take your instructions, book the holiday and send you the bill. Once or twice a year I get to cycle abroad for work. I meet a lot of happy people during the summer (hah!). This time of the year it's quiet and involves a lot of data analysis. I also make tea and support the IT systems. Occasionally I get oily hands too.

Teach science to children who have been raised by parents who don't give a monkies as long as the benefit check arrives.
I used to work very efficiently and adjust old analogue radio's for the railway. Since devolution I now work VERY inefficiently for the railway adjusting the same radio's BUT now with three times the paperwork, a daily rather than four weekly plan and a management team that think continual change is the same as progess. Oh and I've inherited a pile of crap from a colleague since a boundary change as well.
Business manager for a German car company, beloved of ladder climbing, middle management, IT types.

My company have also just decided to save money by taking my colleagues van from him, and making us share. The downside is my van is now overweight so I have had to remove lots of essential gear, things like a generator, water pump, and all my cabling gear. So we are both on call, yet probably won't be able to fix 50% of our faults any more, not to mention the disruption for day to day working. We now generally take turns to watch each other work rather than splitting up and working effectively...
Don't worry Ming, the guys at the top know what they are doing 🙄
I stop planes trading paint over the south of England. 😯
fireman in lincs.
@ Spooky, got so bad with my new "manager" doubting my technical abilities (testing batteries for ****s sake) that the van with 100K's worth of test gear nearly ended up in Sovereign Harbour with the words F..K Y.U scratched into the body work.
Technical Manager for a Large European Health safety and Environmental Consultancy. I specialise in the really freaky dangerous bits that normal HSE geeks run away screaming from (usually involving bits of bodies, exploding things and very toxic substances, If I'm lucky I get all 3 in one project)
I design things on my computer, get them made, put them together (sometimes they even work).
Also known to write some software to make the bits move in the right order.
If I'm really lucky I get to install them at the customers.

I gather data from STW ,I then use some of the more interesting internet character profiles on herds of mice .
The mice are confined to a small village that I built, but they do have some trips out to an exercise yard.
They seem to argue a lot, mostly about the choice of equipment that is available in the yard or why their deluxe cheese is taking so long to be delivered. Sadly, there has been a few fights over missing cheese portions ,but I am almost finished a new super profile that should fix things. I love science 8)

I'm a physio student who happens to have a job providing physio (under supervision) to an elite sports squad. Most physio people are desperate for a job in elite sport but never get there. I on the other hand appear to have stumbled into such a job without trying or even wanting to work in that field (it's not exactly top of my list as I prefer working with older people), but I wont knock the work back.
