My wife wants to buy me something for my birthday. I am in the lucky situation of having pretty much everything I need and most of what I want so I told her not to worry about it.

This was wrong. Apparently she needs to buy me something for my 40th.

I suggested a fixed rear hub for the bike as it is an idea I have been toying with. I told her I would check out what was available and she could order it.

This was wrong. Apparently it has to be something she is buying for me, not something I am buying for myself.

I suggested booze, whores and drugs?

This was wrong. It has to be something 'nice'.

I am now stuck for ideas. I like bikes, cars, beers and have more than one of all of them. What can she buy me for between £50 and £250?

Birthday yesterday.

Got a watch last year, I just don't wear it. Same with jewelry.

CFH - just dropping the drugs bit is still probably wrong.

lcj - That is a great idea!

I will get her to buy tickets for the whole family because althoug it is mainly a mountain bike event where you can win foreign holidays, bikes and loads of kit, there is also stuff for the non-biking partner to do. With the beer festival and music festival happening there as well it will be a great weekend for all. I just hope they have some tickets left at http://www.bigbikebash.co.uk/tickets.php

How about a nice titanium ring (for your finger, not for a bike or your poopshute)

LOL!

Happy Birthday WCA!!!!

What about...

A day out in That London's famous London, which is in London, to meet RudeBoy for a few pints????

Top idea, that, I think. Got cultural and spiritual benefits.

How about one of those rally/track day experiences?

I broke a ferrari when I went, with your reputation you should be able to cause carnage 🙂

How about some top notch cycling clothing?

Normally I wear Altura/Endura/Trek/Specialized type stuff.

I would love some Rapha or Assoss roadie clothing but cannot justify the cost myself - as a present it would be most welcome.

Rapha are doing some bundles - e.g. jacket, shorts and socks - for around the £200 mark.

How about a small painting that you may like the look of? Take a wee daunder around some local galleries or exhibitions - you're bound to see something that appeals to you.

But wait, no offence intended because I don't know you or your partner - you could always ask for a tasteful nude portrait of your partner if she's keen. Have your own private gallery.
Just an honest suggestion. I hope you don't find it over the mark.
