I've finally given up on my trusty old Canon AV1 film camera and am now looking for something decent to replace it. Bit disappointing that there are no cost effective ways of using the old FD lenses, got a nice 70-150, 100-300 and standard 50mm lenses. Oh well. I mainly enjoy close up stuff anyway, insects etc plus landscapes. Bit like bikes I suppose, get the best body I can with something like a 18-105 to get me by?
I'd go for a slightly older body and spend more on the lenses. Been using my Canon 400D for ages and it does the job. The Canon 50mm f1.8 mk2 is a cracking little lens too for not much money
40D and good glass imo
Hmm, could save myself a lot of cash that way. Anyone know of a trusted outlet for these?

If you're not using your old lenses then just go by the features you want and what you like the look of. My only advice is don't discount the 'other brands' like Sony, Pentax and *ahem* Olympus.
If you want a small cam the new OM-D EM-10 is rather nice 🙂
Thanks wysiwyg!
Pentax K-5, not much is going to come close for 350 quid (2nd hand), full weather sealed mag alloy body, image stabilisation built into camera
Regarded as many as one of the best aps-c cameras ever made
And if you do go for an older body, using something like MagicLantern can get you more features than were originally available. Using 400plus on my 400D for example gives me things like spot metering and a software intervalometer function
