Need something simple to use at our workshop (mobile signal there pretty good) for drop in punters who want to pay by card etc. Won't be a huge amount going through via this each month, maybe a grand or two.  Maybe something that gives print off receipts. Paypal one any good? Anything else to look at? Cheers

All of the ones that link to your phone are very similar. Just go with the one that has the lowest percentage charge for the amount of business that you're doing (if it's a small number of bigger payments that you take, you're probably better off going for a rented terminal with a fixed cost per transaction).

We use sumup. Works well and is only 1.7% per transaction which is fine for the couple of hundred additional sales we get from having it. Card reader is only £19 at the moment as well I think.

I use Sumup in my window cleaning business.

If you purchase through this link you'll get it at a reduced price and I get a kick back too. Winner winner, chicken dinner.

I use iZettle too. I know a few people who really looked into the details of all of them and came to conclusion there are all much of a muchness in terms of functionality and costs.

I don't know one that'll print off receipts, though the izettle (and I presume most of them) allows you to email and/or text a receipt to the payer.

We may have been doing something wrong but we struggled with the PayPal reader as it we needed to link it to whoever's phone was in or was serving with required relinking everyone. If it's not often you can install the PayPal Now app and just type in the card details.

IZettle here too after looking into many. Neat little device easy to set up. I’m out and about and for the sake of a couple of percent charges I’d rather get paid at the time of call out than not.
