Never owned a car before so starting from scratch here.
After a family-sized vehicle with the following wish-list:
- roof rack
- decent sized boot
- low-maintenance / reliable
- decent mileage
- green as possible (without adding huge amounts to the overall cost)
Budget wise - got plenty of savings but rather not blow them all on the car. Vague, I know but just looking for some suggestions for starting my research.
Any opinions much appreciated, as always.
Cheers.
Lotus elise.
Thanks.
Bit pointless without a budget.
By roof rack you mean roof bars? If so you can get them to fit pretty much all cars.
You should give some indication of budget ... 5k? 10k? Would help us with suggestions.
Focus?
Got any no claims discount? Might be best aiming for low insurance group rather than mpg, depending on projected use. Honda for reliability is a reasonable starting point, but you could tell us a bit more to help better.
Focus golf civic size thing pic age to suit however much you choose to spend.
Suppose could justify up to about 5-6k second hand.
Going by your username, maybe a cliosport....
3 series estate.
Older vw Touran before they got dpf systems.... 1.9 tdi
Mileage per annum?
Any child shaped objects to carry?
I would look at petrol, likely Japanese and underrated. So Auris or Avensis, Civic or Accord, 323 or 6. Or fall back on the obvious Focus or Mondeo.
Cheers for suggestions all.
loddrik - can we be friends in real life? You sound ace 😀
