Well today has been sub optimal.

Fell, not quite hook, line and sinker but close, for a con this aft. *.

CBA to full type out what happened, but it was one where they get you to confirm a one time passcode and I wasn't paying attention until the last second, possibly too late and gave a scammer access to my O2 mobile account, where they will have had brief access to my name, email, address, phone number, bank a/c and sort code. No card details though. I've let O2 know (separately), and they've put an alert on the account, and told me no changes have been made to my personal details. Obvs I've now changed the password for that, so I'm not too worried about that. I've also changed passwords on Apple ID/applepay, PayPal and my email account. All my banking apps are MFA so not worried about that. Can't see any credit searches being done, but they might not show up for a few days.

What else will they have a go at, and how can I further protect myself? Have let bank know, they seem happy enough nothing can be done with the information they may have gleaned.

I know this sort of thing is a numbers game for them, so will they accept they've been rumbled and * off to the next mark or keep chisling at me?

so will they accept they’ve been rumbled and **** off to the next mark

They've got some very juicy verified data there even without credit card number, so it could be that it gets sold to whoever wants it so just be careful for a little while yet when the next set of punters have a go at something.

Keep an eye out if you get some odd emails or post.

It may die down once the inital test of your accesses fail...

I -think- the only real risk here from what you've said is setting up a Direct Debit in your name. Assuming you haven't reused passwords elsewhere.

I would advise you to keep an eye open for expensive bike purchases, but, well, you know...

Can you get your bank account number changed? That would probably be the thing i'd want.

Be prepared for the follow up scam, where they ring pretending to be from your bank to alert you to a number of compromised transactions.

the one I'd be worried about is people stealing your mobile phone number. They use confirmed detailed to get a PAC code to transfer your phone number. ( Honestly this is a thing. Ife had it where she randomly got a message saying sorry you're leaving your contract. Rang to see what was happening and they said it was too late and it took a about a week to get her phone working again). Transfer the phone number to their own phone and then have access to MFA and apple pay etc to make purchases and verify it all themselves.

Hopefully with O2 on alert they will block any PAC transfer for the coming weeks . Hopefully you weren't looking to change contracts

^^^^^^^

This in spades, if you haven’t it’s time to change your security questions on all accounts associated with that email address starting with o2, they’ve a lot of data that could be used in social engineering type attacks starting with porting your phone number.
