Considering one of these, but befoer cash is spent - what cant they do?
flash basically based on my experience with an iPhone whether that's an issue for you depends on what you do.
I found most stuff fine. Some sites I had to use my laptop but not many.
what cant they do?
They can't Auto-Troll.
Someone will no doubt correct me, but I doubt they're that good for creative stuff - whether it be video & audio editing / illustration / animation etc - I'm sure they offer a few basic software packages / apps with set effects, but if you want a degree of control over the output then I imagine they're pretty rubbish.
That said, I don't think they're particularly designed with any of that in mind.
For general surfing the net / e-mails etc I'm sure they're fine.

Sexual favours?
Drac "It’s certainly not going to replace Final Cut Pro, but I suppose filmmakers could use an iPad on-set to demo a rough edit." - like I said - if you want any degree of control over your work, it probably can't do it. However for simple Windows Movie Maker style vids, using set effects, it'll prob be fine.

Safari will get you to websites to do that
Bounce.
Book theatre tickets at WMC, use several different types of scroll down menus......

Might be what you meant but not quite what you said. It's true they won't replace a proper system but I don't expect anyone thought they would. They can do simple enough stuff which probably easily achieves what the guy with his helmet cam wants.
due to not having a keyboard, they're not great at typing things. The on-screen keyboards apparently good, but its never going to be as good as a physical one.
Printing support could be better/easier, but I've only ever wanted to print from it once and even then I wasn't that bothered.
Other than that it does everything I want it to (plus a whole load of other stuff)

My friend with one totally disagree, thinks the ipad keybaord is ace. I would add if your looking for a device to do a lot of typing on, a tablet is not what you want...
I think there's even some kind sneaky off market plugin for Flash now
I bet it don't make tea nor heat up pasties..
You may need to reconsider the purchase after that bit of a nugget of information.
If I want to type quite a lot on it, I just use my Bluetooth keyboard.

They're not substitute for a laptop - good for consuming but a pain for editing work (compared to a Macbook) - also getting stuff on and off is a pain. I rarely use my iPad 1 and just use my MacBook Pro.
Get you laid?
also getting stuff on and off is a pain.
Not true.
Dropbox. Simple quick and it works.
Like I say, I have both (and use Dropbox) - rarely pick up the iPad - they're nice, but if you have a nice laptop I'd say they're pretty redundant.
It depends entirely on what you want to do, and how adaptable your workflow is.
If it depends entirely on certain programs that have no good equivalent - then you're in for a frustrating time.
The flash thing hasn't been a big problem for me really - bbc, youtube, vimeo and the like detect you're coming from an ipad and give you a suitable video rather than the flash version.
Personally, dropbox, a decent text editor and a PDF annotating app let me do most of what I need to do on the move - I then pick that up from dropbox on my computer and do the last few bits of formatting there.
I wouldn't want one as my only computing device, but they can be a great mobile companion device to something on your desk.

Luckily the world would be a boring place if we all agreed đŸ™‚
We have both and the iPad is the go to device in our houshold for general browsing, email, etc.
