Recent post about Scandal colour schemes got me thinking, I miss my Scandal V2.

Needs must at the time to fund a new build but, it ticked so many boxes and educed so many smiles.

What do you regret selling? Do you constantly keep an eye out for another?

Kona Stinky 6. The original 2001 model I think. Loved that bike, should never have sold it.

I regret selling my CB500, but that's probably not what you're asking (-:

I still fancy another one. Bloody great fun. Like a 26" BMX. Everyone should own a Chameleon at some point

Orange C16R 1995 with Pace MXCD forks. My plan had always been to buy it back some time from the guy I sold it to. Sadly it got nicked from his house a few months after the sale (not by me I hasten to add!)

My ASR5. I should have stuck a 140mm fork on it for fun days out AND bought the Anthem as a race bike, instead of replacing it wholesale with the Anthem.

That said, the Anthem surprises me with its abilities with"only" 100mm travel.

1996 P7 in Nickle with RS Judy SL and full XT.

I kept my 1996 nickel P7 with the intention of getting it powder coated or just polishing then rebuilding. Last year I got the pace rc36 forks rebuilt by Tim at fork English and they looked brand new - new decals and new carbon brake bridges.

A few things happened this year that made me think holding onto the past isn't a good idea so I sold both items. I was happy with the price I got and happy I sold them. I do have the occasional 'did I do the right thing' moments, but yeh I think I did and I'm glad they're gone, its good to get rid of baggage.

Cove Shocker.

Broken bones + house move + 12 months away on business + generally having my head up my arse = decision to sell.

Regret it every time I'm at Ft Bill, Glencoe etc 🙁

Ask me in 2 months. I've never regretted selling a bike but I've just sold my last remaining MTB leaving me with 2 road bikes, a CX bike and a cargo bike.

It had done under 50 miles in 18 months so it was barely used but it was there if I needed it.

It's odd, if you'd have told my 25 year old self that in 10 years I'd own neither a car or an MTB I'd have laughed at you. Funny how things change.

2004 Spec Enduro Comp with Manitou Sherman firefly fork. 125mm travel was and still is all that's needed for most UK riding.

My first 'mountain bike'; a specialized hardrock sport bought new for about £500 in maybe 1997? Only for sentimental reasons, although it would probably do fine as a pub bike now.
In fact, exactly like this one 🙂

Regret selling my Turner 5.Spot. Lovely bike and my first proper FS.

Didn't sell it, but negligence led to my late 80s Specialised Stumpjumper (fully rigid etc) getting nicked. I cried (metaphorically) for months afterwards. It was just like this..

The Prince Albert was the worst! 🙁

I was going to say none. But maybe my 1997 marin team.

For the 130 quid I got for it, it would have been worth keeping for old times sake and using with a child seat.

Modern frames don't seem to fit my hamax seat.

My whyte46 ...loved that bike...I only sold it because it looked a bit dated and a bit much for just riding with my kid...
I might regret my next sale too...sworks Carbon stumpjumper
But then it's funds going to pay off my new rose fat bike...fun here I come...I too old for speed now....well the riding version anyway!!.....lol

1990 team Marin. I consider that my first "real" mountain bike. Certainly the first one that was actually the right size.

Bikes I'd love to have again are probably some of the BMX's I had in the mid-late 90's. A rebadged Curtis specifically. Outdated in 1995, but fillet-brazed 531 BMX frames aren't ten a penny now! Weird shape though!
Reynolds Racing Fresh 40 too.
MTB's; the only one I've regretted selling was a 2008 GT peace 9'r. Way underrated bike.

97 GT Zaskar. Hand snapped off by a buyer in Germany. After I left the post office from sending it off I had one of those WT actual F have I just done moments.

Also had an S-Works Enduro which I sold.

Oh, and a Pace RC303 which was newly built up but I'd gone a bought a medium and it was just too small for me after if was all finished.

But it probably doesn't count.

As part of my Retrobike addiction I got a bike which I always wanted and are really really rare, a 1991 Rocky Mountain Experience. The free ride bike of its day, their version of a Cannondale BOTE. I sold it to buy a Dave Lloyd Beez Knees which I never really bonded with and I still regret it, that RM was the best climbing bike I had ever ridden and just so so cool. (sobs....)

I reckon those sort of designs suffered a lack of evolutionary development, rather than being intrinsically bad.

Being expensive meant most people weren't prepared to give these sort of designs a second chance (understandably).

Looking back I shouldn't have sold my Stiffee 69'er.

Just sold a few bikes, great memories but have to move on and create anew.

A 2010 Gary Fisher Big Sur - a great fit and fast - replaced it with a Scandal v2 which I hated and have now gone back to a 26" hardtail for xc albeit now in carbon. You live and learn [img] [/img]

I've never sold a bike ever. Had one stolen in 1997, does that count?

I currently own nearly every bike I've ever owned. That's ten bikes. Does that make me some kind of weirdo?

No regrets though! I can still ride every one of them any time I want... and they're all still ace, in their own ways.. 8)
