I need to get some new baselayers for running and being 6'4" this is harder than you'd think. Most of the ones I have bought in past make me look like I'm wearing a childs top - sleeves end 4" up from my wrist and often 90's spice girl crop top in length. Not really the best look for a balding bloke.

A few years ago I got a brilliant one from Decathlon, but have not found a similar one since. Every other baselayer I've bought since from there hasn't fitted.

So where do a longer base layer? Thanks

Bit of an long story, but I did a wee challenge to get me fitter through last winter, called race at your pace, ran 100 miles a month for january, then did it again in february, ye get a medal and a baselayer for 14 quid.

Long story yes, but the gist of it is that the baselayers are great, I'm 2 inches shorter than you, but with quite long arms, and they come down onto my hands.

So good, I emailed them and bought another 2 for a fiver each posted. Dunno where they get them from, they'll just be a generic top from moremile or something, but they are brilliant, I use them running, hillwalking and biking.

6'6" and the best fitting base layers I have are by New Balance, with Helly Henson a close second

Under armour.

I'm a bit shorter than you with long arms, best running base layer I have is an under armour cold stuff one. Washes week too, no shrinkage after four years (winters) use .

Its probably just me but I see this as a battle thats been won. HH Lifa (the recent non stinky ones) are so much better than anything else in my opinion for activity. I have never used anything that wicks anywhere near as well, plus they are cheap. I was walking on Friday in the lakes with a Merino top on and it was soaking and remained wet.

There seem to be lots of alternatives at double the price from the big players (I havent tried them all, obvs) and none that I have tried seem to wick like HH.

Just my thoughts

Same height as you. Helly Hansen all the way.

I'm the same height as you with monkey length arms and the Decathlon football baselayers (Kipsta?) fit me fine. I wear a large and the arms are more than long enough. I do have skinny arms though so if you have any guns then they may not fit as well.

I have a couple of kipsta base layers, SS as they had no LS, and aye, they are excellent. 4 quid, so actually cheap, as opposed to HH being cheap..... 🙂

Nice one, thanks chaps. Got a Decathlon 15 mins away so will go check the football section out. Failing that, HH it is

Dickies to some huge long bamboo ones. They hold on to the sweat though.

Not a huge fan of running in bamboo in the winter - great to wear as jammies when winter camping as so soft but freezing if you stop running / cool down when still out.

2 inches taller, and with the same problem. Cloths for the uk market seem to be cut for the larger person. Helly Hansen are good for long sleeved stuff. But for a base layer I really like Lusso’ (cycling) stuff. Works for me on the fells, not just the bike.

Definitely Craft - 6'2" here with 36" chest and comedy arms. Med is a bit short on the arms and perfect on the body, and L is perfect on the arms and slightly looser on the body as you'd expect. Depending on your chest size you should have no issues at all.

The PlanetX 365 ones are bloody long in the body. Not sure about the arms though, I use short sleeves with arm warmers when cold.

I second the Craft recommendation. HH not quite as long as Craft but still good. Also Tog24 do some really nice long baselayers, but they also do ones as short as a boob tube.

Exactly which HH ones? I'm 6'3 and my 3 HH LS base layers all have sleeves that are too short. They're excellent tops though

best ones I've found recently is UA, very stretchy and really good length arms

Thanks folk - I went to decathlon last night (as said, it's right by me) and as per the above recommendation their football base layers fit perfect @ £7. Never normally walk down that isle

Thanks
