Bit long wided sorry!
So picked up my new (to me) car Saturday morning, had a good check round it and noted rear tyres not far off ready. Went in, told salesman that as he hadn't discounted the car we'd only be dealing if two new rear (Bridgestone) tyres were fitted. No worries he says I'll email the service manager now and tell him what we agreed and get you two new tyres fitted near home. (Copy email given to me)
On the journey home I also notice a small crack in windscreen (no biggie) and when actually arriving at home that the handbrake needs adjusting (121 point check my arse).
So I phone up, all this within 2 hrs of leaving the depot. Salesman has gone home but it will be reported to him Tuesday morning.
Then Sunday a small section of "plastic belly pan" gets bent down and is now dragging on the floor, again no biggie but I want it sorting!
Finally roll on to Monday and service manager rings me, I tell him all the problems and he suggests they wouldn't have let it go out with low tyres, I suggest his 121 point check may have been a little awry.
So he wants me to now take the car back to brummy land to get it sorted.
This I don't mind, it's an hr drive but the mrs can have a good run out to get her used to it.

So questions are after the long winded story,
1, do they have to do as I ask
2, could I request they deliver the car back as it'll be three runs to Birmingham
3, if they don't play ball can I ask for a full refund?
As a note the car is perfectly sound other than these little issues but I'd like them sorting as I paid a lot (for me) for the car!

who did you buy it from?
is there a warranty or such with the checks?
Check the small print in these I guess.

Black horse car sales Birmingham. All ex lease, full 3 month warranty. Car is literally 1 month out of manufacturers warranty. I didn't want to be arsey straight off with the service bloke but I agreed a deal with salesman re the tyres so I couldn't give a monkeys what his tyre wear gauge says!

If they fix everything and its no big problem to take it (and wait), then put it down to experience. Otherwise I'd be having a 'chat'.

But, you should've checked it properly.

With any used car bought from a dealer you do have some fairly strong backing nowadays. You get a 6 month warranty for defects, anything that happens in this time is deemed to have been wrong with the vehicle when you bought it and hence their problem.
The rules for rejection are that the vehicle must not be of merchantable quality and that in the case of small issues as you mention they must have had the opportunity to rectify them. Generally it is taken as reasonable to give them 2 chances to fix things and then you could look to reject.
In this case I'd take it back to them, ask them to return it to you afterwards and be fairly clear on what you want. If they aren't fairly keen to oblige straight away then a registered letter to them listing the faults and requesting quick resolution would stand you in good stead down the line if you wanted to reject. Chances are if you're strong but reasonable with them they will sort it.

Well I did check it properly, as in picking up the low tires! My mistake re the screen but it was pissing down and the screen was fully beaded with water so missed that. The handbrake issue wasn't spotted until I parked it in fi law's stupidly steep drive and I didn't have access to a car lift to look underneath. Plus the pan problem only showed up after going thro a big puddle which forced the plastic down. Add that to the fact the "121" point check and you'd "assume" the handbrake was ok!

Actually, I've never figured out why so many of them have that whole 'smug self important' thing going on.

Quite odd considering what they do.

They should fix all the problems but I very much doubt they are liable for your travelling expenses.
Handbrake is an MOT fail - how old is it? If three years or older make sure it has a 12 month MOT, if not ask for one. They are self adjusting so if it's not holding suspect worn pads/drums (depending upon the type of system). Windscreen will be bonded and takes a while for the glue to go off so I'm not sure how viable it is to wait for it.

Sorry, why should the dealer pay to fix this? The other stuff, certainly, but this was caused by you.

The longer you are in possession of the vehicle the less liable they become. They know this and may drag things out until you haven't a leg to stand on. Well known tactic for dodgy dealers. Beware.

Just spoke to the salesman, lovely chap and car will be sorted on Monday and hopefully delivered back to me. Oh and as for the puddle I reckon I hit it at a good 4mph so im almost certain I didn't cause it! Car is fully mot'd and they are certainly not a "dodgy dealer", so for once Im holding a little faith everything will be sorted. In fact mr car salesman told me to make a list of anything I wasn't happy with!
