Looking for a new telly box and just looking for some real world reviews. Smart isn't essential as happy to connect it to an external device like the Wii, not sure if it may be better to do this anyway for future proofing, don't want to have to get another in two or three years. Budget is about £250 give or take a bit.

If the wii is your only external box then buy a smart tv. Unless your wii has an HDMI port. The video out of our wii is bit low resolution. That is assuming that you have broad band fast enough for catch up tv, in particular if its fast enough for broad band

We also have an XBox which seems to have an HDMI port. I'm finding all this TV tech a bit confusing.

Richer Sounds have a 32" Sony Bravia at the moment £309 (so I appreciate it may be over your budget, depending on how much a 'bit' is) which had a very good review from What HiFi earlier in the year. Only had it a couple of days but pleased with it.

I'd want it to have a few hdmi inputs, be smart for the netfliks etc, and bluetooth to talk to my speakers.

not bothered about manufacturer, but a Samsung one I tried a while back was pretty good

That Sony does look good, I was in Richer Sounds today but it felt like I wasn't spending enough for them, it may just have been because they were busy.

are you sure you want something that small?

fwiw I would be looking at plasma sets around the 40" size

Those Sony KDL w7xxxx tellies (linked above) are some of the best gaming tellies you can buy.

If it's good enough for gamers, it's good enough for YOU.

Yes. 3 reasons. Our room is quite small, our budget is relatively small and she doesn't want a big TV dominating the room and I don't either really. But thanks for your advice anyway 🙄

ok ok, just trying to be helpful

if you want a 32" all I can say is don't worry too much about 720 or 1080 as it is unlikely you would sit close enough to notice any difference between the two.

I'd also get a non-smart tv as the manufacturers have a habit of not updating these as often as smart devices such as now tv etc

Given your room is quite small 1080p in 32" will absolutely fine.

The Sony W7 Series is supposed to very good as others have said.

Sorry, bit tired. At the moment this is the size we want, at a future point it may be that we get something bigger for another room. Just now it's mostly used by the kids and I don't really need to see My Little Ponies or Power Rangers in any bigger size.

Id get a non smart tv and a chromecast stick.

My current smart tv was a right pain to connect to and kept dropping so i get a chromecast and it works perfectly now. I wouldn't get a smart one again tbh

Got the Sony. Impressed so far but maybe Hamish can help here but I can't find a way to browse the internet. Its connected, iplayer etc are working but I cant find a browse function. Was going to look up 4 on demand and give it a try but the instructions I've found are to press the round button in the middle of the remote and a list should come up but nothing happens when I press this.
