I'm not 100% sure but I think they may contain things like heart rate monitors, gps trackers, and other diagnostic things.

yes, they have trackers between the shoulder blades so they can monitor exertion and tailor recovery specifically to output. Sounds flash, but particularly important for younger players to avoid over exertion / injury
