I've got a whole lotta whacking' to do in the near future and I can't decide to buy one or just hire when needed.

I have 2 within budget a Belle MPC300 and a Evolution hulk petrol.

They're primarily for 70sq m of subfloor then trenches/paths etc in the future.

Does anyone have experience of these machine or lightweight compactors, are they worth it or should I hire?

Thanks in advance.

You have to hire, makes an incentive to finish the job in good time. Cheaper to buy s/h and flog it for the same money [s]in five years time when your wife has left you after four summers of moaning the garden isn't finished and moved in next door with the bloke from the garden centre and you're having to clear the garage to sell the house to pay for the divorce[/s] afterwards though.

I've got one booked with HSS at the moment for a smaller job than yours. It's costing around £30 for the weekend which I didn't think was too bad.

Personally, I can't see the value in buying one unless you plan to do a lot of wacking* at some point.
