Citroen, Peugeot 1.2 Puretech engines. Wet belt change is due. Have you had it done, cost?
£1500 on a transit custom via main dealer (so the work gets warranted)
Ford 1.0L Ecotec, £1.2k with main dealer.
£1500 on a transit custom via main dealer (so the work gets warranted
They don't use a 1.2 petrol Peugeot engine in a transit.
It's listed as a 499 fixed price service on Peugeot website.
Cost me about 200 in parts Inc a bunch of seals I doubt Peugeot are changing in that cost.
easy job to do( for a skilled mechanic*) Took a half day on my drive inc dropping the sump to clean the oil pick up strainer - which unsurprisingly had nothing on it but the internet panic merchants said I should do it.
*My self not included I've only done about 10 timing belts and this was as comparible as any transverse engine I've done. Both my longitudinals are much easier mind.
My EcoSport is due a major service in November, so I’m going to specifically ask for the belt to be thoroughly checked, the car is a 19-plate, with about 34k on the clock now, so it shouldn’t be a problem, but I’m planning on keeping the car for a long time so that is something I know can be an issue with the EcoBoost engines of various sizes and formats.
I love the car, the little 1.0 turbo 3-cylinder is an amazing little thing, it goes like the clappers, so I’m prepared to pay extra to keep it running sweetly for years to come. The service is about £450.
If you want them to check it you might as well tell them to change it 🙂
My dad was quoted £400 from local trusted garage on a PSA 1.2, he sold it though and bought a Vitara instead.
We had our Focus done earlier this year. 10 years old and about 60k on it. It was about £1200 including a full service. We plan to keep it a while yet and everything else on it seems pretty solid so worth spending out on.

Couldn't you have subbed him the extra 100 to get the Porsche ?
16plate eco boost engine (focus ) just had mine done and about £1300 . I do like my focus and it’s a great daily ! I tend to keep it for a while .
Reputable local Indy want £415 plus VAT. Local main dealer wants £744 inc vat using oem parts. I quoted the £499 Peugeot fixed price and they’re checking to see if they can do my Citroen for the same. Dealer sells Peugeot and Citroen cars.
We have a 1.0 Ecoboost Fiesta on a 16 plate. We paid close to 2k to have it done at a local main dealer, think there were other problems due to the belt actually delaminating. Yes, we have one of the problematic ones, and yes Ford bent us right over. Having now spent close to 4k to get it right, the wife has decided she doesn't trust it and wants rid. Can't say I blame her, but could do without the expense!
Thought this was going to be about the latest Smith and Sniff podcast.
How can I tell if mine is a wet belt or not? (2020 1.0 ecoboost, the non hybrid thingy one)
Not sure, I think all the ecoboost engines are wet belt. It's been a problem for a long time though so on a 20 plate I'd hope they have fixed it.
Local Indy gets the work. Citroen main dealer can’t get parts. I wonder why there is a shortage of wet belts for their Puretech engines? Also they wouldn’t budge on the price. So Peugeot owners get the same job done for £200+ less.

Yes, so well warranted…
Needless to say this is still unresolved.

TBF a lot of the worry is around unknown service history and the use of the wrong oil which is a key problem with the wet belts degrading

I’m considering asking them about doing it. Not a main dealer anymore, used to be until Ford and Volvo decided they only wanted main dealers to trade on big business parks.
Yes I thought that!
CZ won’t be happy either as they both think the EcoSport is utter toss.
Who? I honestly couldn’t give a phũk what some random tosser with a podcast thinks! The entire motor industry is full of engines that have, at some point, shown to have an issue that ultimately someone’s found a solution to.
As far as I’m aware, 60k miles is when there’s a likelihood of a belt failing, mine’s on around 33k, so I’m fairly certain that after the next service it’s good for a fair time, I could probably get it changed at around 55k, but I’ll see in November what the service people say.
I honestly love the car, having driven a few hundred others, I can think of very few, if any, that I would swap it for; if the motor went south, I’d get a replacement motor fitted, I’m not planning on ever getting another car; if it lasts as well as my Octavia, which never had a service in the 15 years I had it, then it’s probably going to outlive me!
which main dealer did your Ford for £1200? We’ve just bought my mum’s 66 plate Fiesta with the 1.0 ecoboost, which we love!
thanks!

There was (at one point - don't think supply's an issue now) same problem with supply of wet belt kits for the 2.0 euro6 Transit engine, apparently as Ford didn't anticipate as many needing changed as have done.
I also went local indy - a Transit specialist who does almost nothing else but wetbelts - for my Transit, £850 done on my driveway whereas local dealer quoted £1600. All the same parts used and the guy is/was a Ford tech by day for 19 years before going out on his own.
We have an 18 plate 1.0 Ecoboom, I mean Ecoboost, but only 37k on it at the moment. I'd be inclined to change it before 60k if we keep it that long.
I think all the ecoboost engines are wet belt
my 1.6 ecoboost in a focus is a dry belt.... 63 plate on 103k - just had the belt and pump done 3 weeks ago for £450. I think it was just the 1.0l that had a wet belt until 2019 ish, then a bunch of the other size engines got them too
actually - that's nonsense - there was apparently loads of different ones with a wet belt, my brother just said that his '17 Focus RS (2.3 ecoboost) has a wet belt too. Apparently 2019 was when some of them got chains instead of belts. so dunno what the actual truth is LOL
As far as I’m aware, 60k miles
It's time or milage.

On that side of things
