Hi all. Back in the days when I was earning a decent amount as a photographer (and sometimes waiting around all day in cold muddy areas) I bought a pair of lovely leather lined dark green “shooting” wellies. TBH I still wore hiking boots more than them.

Somehow, though, they don’t now fit - my feet have got bigger - as time has passed and my footwear has got to be more comfy and more “foot shaped” (eg Vivobarefoot / Altra / Crocs I’ve gone up to a uk 10 in most shoes. .
If anyone’s interested I still have the very rarely worn leather lined jobs. Let me know. UK 8 or 9. I see they are super expensive now.

Anyhoo. I’m looking for grippy (good in clay mud, maybe the soles look more like football boots (like Scarpa boots) rather than Farmer Johns tractor tyres) wellies for post ride duties and a bit of trail building.
Darn Tough high merino content over calf socks (highly recommended, literal lifetime warranty against wear) will help with warmth so I guess I dont need to spend on neoprene. .
I expect steel toe caps and sole inserts make builders wellies colder and perhaps less comfy (hard edges inside) and I don’t feel I need the protection.

Any thoughts please?

Can't help with the replacements but I've messaged about your old ones!

Decathlon Solognac neoprene wellies are on my feet for at least an hour a day walking the dog through muddy fields, and I'll wear them for much longer for longer walks regularly. They're about £70 I think.

Welshfarmer recommends some others, and he's a farmer, so wears them a lot, so is also worth listening to.

I changed from wellies to Kamik Canadian boots a few years ago and haven't looked back. Really good grip, warm In the winter with good socks and still wearable in the summer months. Well made and durable. Not full wellie coverage though which is the only down side.

I've worn these daily for a few wet and muddy winters off-piste in the Forest and over snowy cols in the Himalayas:

Too warm above 5 deg for me though.

Go to your local fishing shop, they'll have a good range of decent wellies you can try on in store, I've got some thick soled ones with neoprene upper bits by HardWear which are really warm and comfy, cost about £40.
