Saw a convoy heading south at the Ripon junction, four plain green artics with 40ft trailers like the ones steel companies use. Interspaced by four dark blue armoured (military?) police carriers which were interspaced by green armoured Army personnel carriers, accompanied by a white military police van with 'OSU' on the side, a spare tractor unit & a breakdown truck bring up the rear.
Nukes?

Yep that's what it was Jock, heading South though so not going to Faslane.

Looked like it would take a bit to hijack any of it!

They are not "mr happy" if you mess with them, and yes all weapons ARE loaded and I would imagine their rules of engagement are somewhat looser.
Even the most rabid of protesters won't tangle with them which says an awful lot.

I was cycling along in Hampshire one day, lovely summer evening, quiet back roads. 'What's that noise?' I thought for a second then a tank came around the corner. Full on modern tank! No other supporting cars, not on a low loader!

It was a bit scary to be honest, it made me think about what it would be like to be invaded or occupied.

Saw one of those convoys a few years ago with the police stopping all the traffic at the roundabouts so the convoy never stopped. Pretty impressive to see and don't think I'd want to get in the way of them.

Saw the same going from High Wycombe towards Maidenhead this afternoon, was a huge convoy! Nuclear weapons movements will be most likely.

Reminds me of those signs around Catterick Garrison, 'Caution, tank drivers under instruction'.
Wouldn't you think they'd have a knock around the car park before letting them loose on the roads though???

Vin Diesel could take them, armed only with a dodge charger and a vest.

A similar convoy could be seen on the M1 heading north with City of London or the Met in cars surrounding one or two trucks, always travelling at speed. Various rumours what they were protecting - nukes, prisoner transfer or the most plausible transferring cash from London to Leeds

Yes, on occasion I'v sent bulk consignments of bank notes to Leeds to be destroyed (not enough for an armed convoy though), it's where drugs contaminated cash ends up

Yeah, you can't mistake the Nuke convoys - used to see them occasionally heading for an overnight at Ouston

Thats defo what it was.
No air support, only seen that for Cat A prisoners out of HMP Frankland. Nearly as much backup as for nukes!

Just at the end of Zulu's vid - there's a copper there that looks like he's going to have a word with the guy filming - whereupon the camera (a phone camera I presume) is pointed innocently at the big house (or castle, possibly) on the hill. 😆
