Howard was a decent bloke who really fought to keep the company going and with a new appointment at a management level we had definitely turned a corner. Sadly Friday evening he suffered a heart attack and died. Yesterday we were told his wife had decided to close the company with immediate effect and we had 3 hours to clear desks and get out.
I'm pretty certain she felt that the stress of the job contributed to his death and she was probably right.
Anyway I'm now looking for more photo/design/ writing work to fill the gap in my work schedule and try to work out how I can get by without the 7 weeks worth of money owed that I'll be last in the queue to get.
[/self pity]
To think that 72 hours ago my main concern was how muddy the trails might be.
Ugh, that sucks, hope you manage to find something soon.
That's really bad luck. Good luck job hunting!

I got a proportion of unpaid wages and pay in lieu of notice reasonably quickly via the insolvency service when the company I was working for was liquidated earlier this year. I wasn't eligible but others got redundancy payment that way as well.
Thanks. I'm sure that stuff will work out, I was working 3.5 days a week for the company and have a few other small clients. Being honest the main thing is how down I am over the death of the boss. A good man who did his best in a world stacked against print media.
Anyway, onward and upward!
