Log burnerists,

Plenty local folks selling seasoned hardwood (Beech, Elm). However can get a decent enough delivery of kiln dried Ash for not a huge amount more.

Which one?

Thanks.

Seasoned.
Unless you'll be keeping it in your airing cupboard.
Beech is good firewood, especially if someone else has split it.

Rather than buy kiln dried just turn up the central heating.

I'm no expert but after some research I understand that kiln dried wood is not as environmentally sound due to the drying process and if you store it outside (or anywhere not super dry) it'll suck up ambient moisture like a sponge and will revert to moisture levels comparable to seasoned firewood.

we only sold seasoned minimum two years and indoor storage.. dry as a bone weighed nowt ..burnt like fun.. folks always went by price though so we jacked it in when newly felled logs for a fiver a ton less than ours sold literally tons more

Why would you bother kiln drying ash?

Why kiln dry ash? Because people will buy it thinking it is the best, what could be better? Great firewood species with extra dry!

In the real world, it cuts 12 months out of the process, although 6 really by the time it equalises in your log shed.
