I've just been watching some music vids on youtube and an old fave came up, such a cool and inventive video.
I love a bit of acoustic guitar so I am biased...
What really inventive music vids do you like?
Let's spread some love rather than all the depressing crap in the news!
Another fave of mine.. bit pretetious maybe so such a mooving song...
I guess a thread like this will always end up being a Spike Jonz and Michel Gondry playlist  - nice to get in first through
Not sure it gets us away from misery
Let's keep it nice and crazy, in a good way...
Not sure what this one is about, but again, for me, a top tune:
the blink-182 behind the scenes on that vid is also much happiness
Anything by OK Go, but this one was my first and maybe still my favourite:
Can't beat a good dance
Dance you say?
This always makes me smile ( shame that the film quality of the Nickolas brothers is lacking)

First, the video that made me go out and buy a drum kit last month.
and then some other likes
How many horror film links can you spot?
Not sure whether this is a break from.the misery as it's fairly remorselessly bleak, but it is very well done.
Also, if you like Jeremy Fish's art, this ones a must
Bit of hyper-pop from lovely Lalka. Bit biased on this one cos I got a credit at the end from providing images 😀
As per defblade.. ok go video's taking some beating, my favourite:
I like this one from Beck a lot too
Another vote for most of OK GO'S video. Lord knows how they make any money from their trade as they must spend most of it on the videos!
Definitely worth looking up the behind the scenes/how they did it video for the Upside down & inside out linked above.
Not a typical music video as the music is  a mix / medley of a whole album rather than a single - a collaboration between the Avalanches and video artist Soda Jerk who cuts/splices/layers film and video samples in the same way that the Avalanches layer and blend samples
Craziness!
Still one of my favourites, both as a song and as a video:
And if I want something to make me smile:
Viagra Boys do some decent videos, this is one of my favourites
Thanks to Kayak and DezB for putting me on to this crowd
This one always makes me smile.
[youtube
And my kids tell me this is a brilliant one-take video:
Sugar Water by Cibo Matto. The video is truly ace, with the added bonus of the song being a stone cold 90s chillout classic

For an artistically beautiful one, Lilac Wine by The Cinematic Orchestra is pretty good
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_w-xms9h0Dc
And if you like hard French techno, pretty much anything by KAS:ST is accompanied by amazing video

Not strictly speaking Music videos, but two youtube classics that still make me smile.
Levanna the Northern Soul dancing Girl.
Non- stop's original Pumped up kicks video, IMO still one of the best examples of its type on the internet.
Also not a promo video. But a fine demonstration of the gentle art of theramin playing by Jon Spencer
The original version , strictly got nothing on these two;Â
