The sneaky 2 yr-old managed to adjust her sun/stars clock so the sun came up a "little" early.

There is a key-lock function on it. 😀

we've always tried to stick to the literal sun and moon clock to avoid the problem you've just experienced..

So wake up at sunrise (8:22am), and off to bed at sunset (3:38pm).

How's that working out for you? 😀

Surprise lay in this morning, 7am!! 🙂

20 month old has been ill and sleeping a lot during the day this weekend, so didn't end up going to bed until 9 last night.

5 yr old was the first one up at 7, right result (although we were nearly both late for work this morning).

The twins go to bed at 8pm Babyfred 1usually wakes up at some pint between midnight and 3, comes into ours bed for some milk and then back to her cot until between 5 and 6, back in with us for more milk and then back to slept until my alarm clock goes off at 7. Babyfred 2 will normally sleep until about 6.30 and will chuckle herself until we go and get her. They're 1 on Wednesday.

What I dont get is; how come even though I am up at six / six thirty most mornings with my almost 5 year old, we are alway rushing around like mad men at eight fourty five in a panic due to being late for school.

I have a suspicion that his clockwork timings for a "poo" at eight thirty have something to do with it.

Oh and what joy this morning at losing his three year old brother in tha garden after letting him free of his buggy following the school run. Only to find him helping dig the remainder of the vegetable patch, I was almost tempted to take the hose pipe to him! But came to the conclusion his screams would have the neigbours out.

Cracking thread.

MY little man is now a 'wake up, back to sleep' kind of thing. This morning he was woken by the rain on the Velux windows, wanted tucking in and then back to sleep after 20sec of a cuddle... Happy until after i left for work at 6.20.

I've been fortunate that in all his times of waking i've never really struggled for some reason... the wife has though.

I must say, when the clocks change have been the worst days....At them times he was usually waking at about 5.15 anyway... so 4.15am !!!!

I recall one bad night we'd been up, walking to see the horses, had home-made pancakes i made, had a bath, been out cycling... it was 7.35am !!!!! i mean... come on... seriously !!!!

We made a mistake a few weeks ago when he had an ear infection to let him into our bed at about 4am.... the next 3 weeks, every night between 2-5, he's climbing into bed again... The wife is an easy touch so he gets allowed in.... i then am bombardered with 'head-hugs' or 'trying to climb into your ear'.... which is bascially where we sleep with our heads completely inseperable....
I'm sure in a new age man kind of way it's very romantic for the wife to see her boy and me so close... but DAMN... i just want 1" of space between our heads when he's snoring away merrily.

Jnr FD has had a bad virus for the last 2 weeks and ended up sleeping with Mrs FD. Virus gone and he still wakes up wanting to sleep with Mrs FD, and Mrs FD relents.

But I've had enough, time to make a stand!

Last couple of nights its even started putting him in bed at 7pm with crying. 30 mins later I get him off to sleep. 11:30pm wakes up, leave him for 10mins by which point he's screaming the house down. Go in to his room, by 12:00am hes at least lying down and quiet. Leave the room, screaming starts again. 12:15 back in the room calm him down, all goes quiet. 12:30 consider leaving the room, and Jnr FD just starts talking (baby talk) and laughing and joking to himself...oh joy. Leave the room screaming starts again. 1:00am back in Jnr FD lies back down, goes quiet, I leave the room, screaming starts. 1:30am I getting peed off with Jnr FD, and he wins the battle 👿 I end up putting him bed with me (yes I know) Jnr FD goes straight to sleep, and I sit there wide awake....think I got to sleep about 2:30 and up at 5:30

Inlaws stayed over last night due to little fella needing to be off from child minders today because he is ill.

Right result, he was up at 3 and i just rolled over and stayed asleep until 7 while mother-in-law wrestled with him for 4 hours. 🙂

I think the thought of her being up with him was more rewarding than the extra 4 hours kip 😀

Just read the whole thread with a wry smile most of the way through, Although the youngest is just 4, its seems all a distant memory.

I am still up at 0520 each morning, but that's just so I can finish early to do the school run.

I get him up just before I leave so he can have a wee, then he climbs into bed with Mammy till about 0730.

At times it feels like you're never going to get a good kip again, but its only a couple of years!

Woken up at 5ish this morning.

Little 'un (20mo) distressed by the wind rattling her window (it was pretty breezy).

We'd normally just soothe and put her back in her own bed, but we have guests at the mo who probably don't want to listen to a screaming girl at 5am, so she came into our bed, wriggled for two hours then fell soundly asleep - just as we all had to get up for work.

our 2yo, slept until 7 this morning. Normally it's 5.30 - 6, so I missed breakfast to get him to Kindergarten for 8.15
My wife has the rough end though, we have a 2 week old, and is on the nipple, so it's her duty to be up all hours to look after her.

4:40am today. Mrs P and Ms P have been away all week so have had some decent sleep, but woken at 12 by Mrs P stressing for an interview today and then Ms P up at 4:40 so went downstairs with her for 2 1/2 hours of having my nose and ears pulled and twisted. So glad they are back...

Woop, as of a week ago I can join this club. Tbh (ssshh) wee caelan has been a star gen 4hrs between feeds so far including over night. The wife and I are a good tag team between nappy changing and the feed.

I've got one of those weird mini bikes in the garage and can't help thinking about stripping the cranks / drivetrain off and having the worlds first fs balance bike 😉 think this came to
me at 4am the other day - no time to act on it yet of course

I'm now going to grab one of those critical hour sleeps before he wakes up to play.

Morning 🙂

Just fired up the espresso machine, jesus these 7.30am starts are hard work 🙁 Sometimes I wish Lili was awake more between 7pm and 7am, because I don't see that much of her if I'm working full overtime. But then I remember how incredibly hard it was for the first 6 weeks. It's amazing that you can adapt to that routine full time.

Lil Grips #1 has slept through for the first time in a while. At least I think she has - it has been known for me to sleep through her nighttime wakeful episodes. I woke at 7am anyway though.

Mrs Grips posted on mumsnet and it seems that many people's kids who would previously sleep through are starting to wake up and not want to go back down at like 3am.. Wonder if it's some kind of developmental stage?

In bed at just short of 1 after catching up on the work I missed by having a day off on Friday to take them to see Santa at Lapland UK. Now up again at 0645 with both of them playing Harry Potter (chopstick each as a wand, shouting 'EXPELLIARMUS' at each other at the top of their voices). Great.

Ideal preparation for Brass Monkeys today. When's Matt Hart going to write a feature on improving your performance under real life STWer conditions.....

Had a bloody awful night. Went out for the first time in ages with my wife last night. On the way home got a panicked call from the babysitter saying that she'd heard a noise upstairs and discovered a man stood in my youngest son's bedroom. He'd pushed past her and legged it out of the house. Fifteen mins later and the police are onsite with dog handling teams etc and actually find the guy hiding in a front garden on the next road over. They are saying creeper burglar at the minute, disturbed in the act, no danger to the kids. Had no sleep whatsoever and waiting for the SOCO to come round now. Totally freaked out, if I'd discovered him in lads room I would have killed him 🙁

On a brighter note my kids have loved having the polive in the house 🙂

Edit: sorry for bringing the mood down, needed to vent a bit

yoassarian, deepest sympathies, that's horrendous. Glad all yours (and the babysitter, who must also be very shaken!) are okay. Good luck with getting the support you need from the police. And v glad the little ones found something cheery in the whole thing!

I have to concur with yossarian ,that's wrong ,burglar maybe...intent however unknown so I have to say they would have found that weirdo in a street but maybe not capable of doing a great deal ever again .Sadly this is the world we live in.

On a lighter note mine has just started sleeping through we have actually had 3 nights sleep now.She has never done this and is now 5 months prior to this she might sleep for 20 minutes in very hour or an hour on an hour off if we were lucky, but both my other half has been very I'll as has the daughter. And we have had it quite rough time of it putting her in her own room is the only thing that worked for us though quite scary due to past events with her.
.
Only thing I can say is Hang in there chaps it does get better though the sleep depravation does seem to alter perspective somewhat ,they should really supply kids with iPads just for those nightie sessions

Yossarian has kinda summarised my worst nightmare there.. Not keeping me awake at night or anything but if I'm up, and the house makes a noise or something then I'll need to sit still for a few minutes listening for any further noises..
I also worry about the garage being broken into at night sometimes, not helped by a couple of the stolen bike therefrom here lately!!
Anyway, back on topic- weeman woke up at three am, he went back to sleep ok but I haven't- been listening hard for hours!! Lol.
Nothing to dowith iPhone or excitement about new wheels!

All quiet in the Yoss house last night. SOCO was inconclusive as the bloke was wearing gloves. The babysitter has got an identity parade later this week. I'm sorry for posting about it on this thread, probably the wrong place.

Best thing is that the kids have been totally unaffected by it, they keep asking when the police and the doggies are coming round for a mince pie . Gotta also say that although I'm usually no fan of the cops they were brilliant.

Off to work now after 30 minutes of wacky races on the tv. Gotta love that show!

I feel pretty lucky having quickly read this thread.
My 1yr old daughter. Pretty much the same last night as every other night for the last 9 months, Went to sleep at 7:30, not a squeak. I went in to kiss her good night at about 11 and woke her up (idiot) so had to spend all of 5 mins getting her settled and asleep again. She then woke due to me getting up at 6:00 this morning (we sleep in the room above) so got I her some milk and left for work (she holds the bottle herself now so no need to even feed her!)
I guess she'll sleep till about 7:30, when Mrs transapp will be ready to get up.
The only differance to a normal night really was the waking up at 11. I think I have an angel child!!

Daughters plan to enhance my performance when operating on minimal sleep seems to be working. Her recent sleep depravation techniques meant that when she woke earlier I got up, got her up, started getting ready for breakfast and only glanced at the clock briefly to see how much of a lie in we had had. Only then did I realise that it was... 3.30 am! Felt pretty good on the 4 hours until then so assumed I would be awesome come actual get up time (alarm at 6.30 to try and recover some normal routine whilst I am off for the holidays). Maybe awesome was optimistic but not too bad, and she is only just rousing now...
Considerable improvement on her recent screaming fits of the last few days that we haven't quite fathomed yet. Oh, and she is nearly 20 months now, so don't assume once they are sleeping through that you gave cracked it, it can come back again later. The 3 hours of sleep nights recently have made me all musty eyed and nostalgic for the good old days of a newborn 😉

for all my showing off leading up to xmas regarding yunki Jr and his 12 hours uninterrupted every night I am now paying a karmic price..

He's still sleeping through... BUT.. with Mrs yunki now 8 months pregnant and quite immobile and uncomfortable and grumpy through lack of sleep.. it has fallen to me to be the life and soul of the party as I steer yunki Jr (and the stranded Mrs yunki..) through our third and most exciting xmas as a family..

Only I'm flipping ill.. not cold and sniffles ill.. or man flu or overindulgence ill.. or run down and exhausted ill.. or even real flu or food poisoning.. but an inflammatory bowel disease which is very much a cunning combination of all the above but with added misery and discomfort.. and it could take weeks for the IBD to go into remittance..

It's now becoming a bit of a struggle and I'm wondering how long it will be before it starts to get me down.. aah well... at least there's another bambino on the way..

I think I'll just pop out for a morning ride for the sake of my sanity..
aah..

no I won't.. I'm weak as a kitten and my lower half feels like I've been run over.. and I'm almost guaranteed to poo myself anyway
