Bought something off ebay on Sunday.

The tracking showed the usual "tracking number provided" on Monday.

It was delivered yesterday apparently "signed for" but no one signed for it.

Tracking now shows "in transit".

It would seem that I could claim nothing received in a few days as RM seem to have lost track of the parcel. (I'm not going to.)

Pretty crap service from RM for the sender, why bother paying the extra for "signed for"?

If you've actually received the delivery, that should be satisfactory, no? Not sure I'd be worrying about what the tracking says about a completed delivery, especially at the moment with so many delays and disruptions.

A recent purchase sent from the seller on 6/12 arrived 20/12, tracking info was empty most of that time. It was on 24 hour tracked as well. I'm still not sure if it was with the RM for all the time, the seller or just in limbo.

I'm amazed people still use it as a 'service' (said in the voice of the train recorded message that always says service with implied air quotes).

I'm quite happy.

The point is the seller paid for a service that they haven't received.

As someone who occasionally sells stuff on there and used to se RM "signed for" it's a slight concern.

I've got similar with RM. Email to say something would be delivered on Tuesday. Then another saying that at the customers request the delivery attempt was going to be delay. Next day it arrived with a wad of other mail but that evening got an email apologising for non delivery. Track shows it as in transit.

It's almost like there is industrial action on going and in the ensuing chaos someone's just pressing buttons to make stuff go away.

Yep. It is up the spout at the moment. Had signed for stuff just pushed through the letter box, but at least it has arrived.

I can’t remember the last time I actually signed for a ‘signed for’ package from Royal Mail, including Special Delivery. A few years at least.

I believe that postmen/women can sign on your behalf if they can prove it's been delivered, like put through the letter box.(been that way since COVID).

Tracking for lots of RM items are all over the place at the moment.

I haven’t signed for anything since covid started.

I’ve had my photo taken a few times though.
