Virgin media landline, 1 splitter 2 hpones, 1 basic corded one bt answerphone cordless, this seems to happen on both phones incoming or outgoing call.
A few minutes into the call, sometimes seconds, i hear a dial tone, so end call and thephone rings almost immediately and it reconnects to the other end who got a "PLEASE WAIT" message, i'm not sure if it happens on every call but if not all most calls.
Was going to blame the bt phone but did it on the corded one today.

Any thoughts, do i have to talk to virgin?

That sounds like a momentary interruption of the service to me.

I've had exactly that symptom back when I had an old-style corded phone with a cradle. If you 'blip' the cradle like a momentary hang-up it, well, does exactly as you describe. I think it's supposed to be some sort of Hold function; I've half a memory that a button on the phone did it too ([R] for "recall" maybe?) - are you pressing buttons with your face?

Could be a line fault, but if I were you I'd try to rule out internal wiring / handset issues first.

Im sure its not face originated, the setup hasnt changed for 5 years i'd say, but this has started happening in the last few months, and not to just one face either! We are a multi-faced household. I'll try with one phone connected at a time, see if the problem stays with one phone or the other i suppose.
