Hi,

I have changed our WiFi over to 6e which is working happily with my phone (S23 Ultra) except for Google maps.

Maps works perfectly fine on the old WiFi and on 4g/5g but refuses to use the 6e claiming it is offline. The 6e works fine with every other app including Google apps like Chrome.

This has been going on for three weeks and is really annoying. I'd be very grateful if anyone has any suggestions as to what is going on.

Why???!!

Having recently considered a wifi mesh update myself I have seen a bunch of people suggest s23 phones throwing their toys out of the pram on 6e. So probably coincidence when you open maps, but almost certainly your phone.

That’s is a bit niche and sounds like the Maps app is using a strange port mechanism at some point when talking back to the Borg map severs.

any other devices in the house running the Maps app?

Thanks guys, I haven't got anything else that uses the 6e network to try, but maps works fine on the old WiFi, on all devices.

It's not a coincidence, this has been going on for weeks and it's definitely just maps when connected to 6e.

I even turned everything off and back on again!

It will probably be resolved at some point by an update to the WiFi device/router or the phone. Have you got the latest firmware applied to all the gadgets in the hopscotch line back out to the interwebs?

btw, do you actually need the upgrade to 6e?

We had a similar issue with a specific website not working on our WiFi. Running a free VPN to test it and it worked.

Try a free VPN on your phone and see if maps works.
