I tend to have more than a fair share of dreams that fall into the natural disaster/apocalypse category and so I was not too worried about last night's major flooding/building being washed away/family at risk dream. In fact, watching the sea level rise and feeling the building I was in (lots of glass, could see _under_ the surface at times) was actually quite exciting.
Anyway... I did notice that, for a dream, I spent more than my fair share of time trying to decide on the best backup strategy for my home computers. I'm not convinced that this kind of thing is either normal or healthy, but can anyone think of a better way of backing up iPad, iPhone and Mac than backing up phones to laptop, then backing up laptop to HD (then waterproofing the external HD with plastic bags and gaffer tape)?
No, no cheese last night, don't know what brought that on.
If it was my dream I'd have gone for an offsite backup by taping the HD to a cow or something.
And then spent the rest of the dream chasing cows round a field trying to a) identify which one had the HD on it and b) retrieving the HD.
It'd probably be a metaphor for my life.
If you're all mac, then iCloud or some other hosted storage.

If I recall my dream interpretation class correctly, dreaming of flood disaster scenarios is a manifestation of repressed transgender leanings. The house represents your masculinity, the flood water rising (and eventually obliterating it) is your inner female identity which will ultimately destroy your male self.
The hard drive/ back up worry is based on your need to pass on your DNA before you have irreversible gender reassignment surgery.

What strikes me about myself in my dreams is my complete lack of anxiety/worry when presented with crisis situations.
The only recurring one I have is having to go back to school at the age of 34 to take my A-levels (my uniform doesnt fit me).
It always ends with my having to take the exam the next day, but as it turns out I haven't attended any of the lessons over the past 2 years.
But it doesn't bother my dream self in the slightest.

When I was a kid I used to have dreams exactly like this.
In my dreams,
I'd be in a superstore that was flooding and a giant Kracken was at the bottom of the escalators-
no Problem I'd deal with it
or
Ronald McDonald turned out to be the devil and the world was being consumed by fire and all around me.
no Problem I'd deal with it (was confident I was faster than him)
or
Being chased by secret agents through a forest
no Problem I'd deal with it (I was better at hiding than them)
However my "nightmares" were completely normal events like my cousins getting sticky food on my spectrum or my girl cousins invading my bedroom which was a "boys" space.
I'd often wake in a cold clammy sweat feeling very worried indeed.

I never panic in my dreams, but I do find I am incapable of killing things. Take zombies... Normal people would just shoot them or hit them in the head or something. In my dreams, guns jam and I can't find anything to hit them with. I'm not sure what that's trying to tell me, but it does mean that my dream-zombie-apocalypse is good for zombies.
I've been told that dreaming about teeth means something about money.
Also, iCloud? Really??? Won't the data center get wet? Also, what tyres for global flooding? I'm guessing 20+ would work better.
It won't be long before storage is compact enough and uses very little power and it makes sense to put in a satellite.
No issues with national jurisdictions getting data out with court orders and no problems with it getting wet.
Hmmmm. Good point. I guess putting a kilo of NAND flash into orbit with the right controller could hold my mac backup. Would need shielding though. I would not want it forming a rogue AI like in that documentary with William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy in.
I had a strange dream (for me at any rate) last night.
For some safety reason I was being made to wear a mask and they wanted to cut my beard. I was standing there shouting, 'Cut my beard, cut my beard. Do you know how long it took to grow this???' 😳
