My parked car got hit by a lorry on Monday, fairly hefty hit and moved the car about a foot.
There's damage to the bumper and grill which is obvious but I've noticed that there's a new noise when I brake or pull away slowly. It's like a woo-woo-woo but mechanical sounding, if that makes any sense?
The handbrake was on and the car was in gear when it was hit.
Could the 2 be linked or is it just a new noise?

That's a hell of a strain on the drivetrain as the handbrake is likely to have slipped with the impact (or be the opposite end to the driven wheels) so all of the suspension and location members at the drive end, the driveshafts, the gear box and engine will have been affected.
I'd be getting the car inspected mechanically, regardless of visible impact damage - modern bumpers are very good at absorbing large impacts without the outer structure subsequently showing a huge amount of deformation.

That's what I was thinking. I've contacted my insurers and they are going to get the repair company to check this out .
