Of course you can. You can also lose weight whilst eating rubbish too.

There are certain things, like lettuce, and cucumber, that require more calories to chew then they actually provide (I think). Everything else, well of course.

I agree with jota, you simply could not eat enough before you turned vaguely tomato coloured and the world fell out of your arse.

They are just not dense enough in calories.

[Edit] About 18-20 calories per 100g, 2000 cals is at least 10 Kg

bloke I worked with decied to go on a fruit diet.

bought about 40 satsumas and eat his way through them during the course of a working day.

He came back to work about 8lbs lighter 2 days later.

I'd avoid eating 'lots' of everything.

'Eat a rainbow of colours' everyday was some good advice I had re: food choices.

This implies that you are not fully aware of the process through which the body stores fat. It is not only the consumption of fat which causes weight gain. Its complexity is beyond me but it is to do with the balance between energy consumed and energy expended. The energy could come from tomatoes, sugar, fat, energy gels, a protein shake or a balanced meal.

If it were me, I'd suggest a varied and balanced diet that offers you slightly less calories than you need each day. That way you will enjoy what you eat but the calorie deficit will help you lose weight over a long term and sustainable period.

Ton,

Balance is key and its not really fat per se you should be bothering about. Sugar is the key thing to avoid. That is what will make you put weight on and also will make you crave the stuff when you've been working hard. Its hidden in all sorts of places so arm yourself with some knowledge!

Without getting too heavy, keep your plate 25% protein, 50% good carbs (ie not potatoes!), 25% greens......avoid dairy, coffee, breads (even wholegrain - bread aint great and neither is teh gluten!). Eat clean as if your toxic load is too high that can prevent you from shedding weight too, Drink plenty of water, substitue that coffee in the morning for a warm water and lemon. Steer clear of that post ride cake too, that will go staright around the middle!

You'll feel better and combined with regular exercise you'll see a steady drop.

I'd say lay off too much Olive Oil in your diet.. What you've written up there seems to contain quite a lot of it.

Try dry food, raw foods that need no oil(s) to make palatable, it's achievable.. and refreshing.

Pulses too, they contain a lot of fats and the more you eat the less time the body has to digest it all.

Moderation in whatever you eat.

Sorry, olive oil is a good fat like a good quality fish oil supplement. It helps the skin and he;lps the old joints. Its fine as long as you're not frying it as the compound breaks down and turns into a nasty fat when heated. As long as youre not downing a pint of it then its fine.

trail_rat - I'm sure it would work.

I do wonder if he went straight from his old diet to eating 4kg of citrus fruit in an afternoon though?

Toxic load is the shit you get in processed foods, chemicals that people put on their skin, pollution....all the shit your body cant process. Eating clean...Organic and knowing whats in your food helps ease the load of modern day life....

Surely the reiki crystals that surround my bed at night will counter the toxic load, though?

It's a funny old world out there!

And 30 bananas a day would be quite a potassium load also!

Certainly is, but thank goodness the poster thought to consult a doctor:

The TCM specialist told me that I need to eat meat because I have a blood deficiency and dampness in my stomach spleen. He said that raw food, cold food and sweet food is taxing on the spleen. He said that the dizziness would be cured by eating meat because its very grounding.

Once those humours are back in balance I'm confident her dizziness and other problems will be resolved.

When you're considering energy content, fat is fat (9 kcal/g)

Of course... stuff like the idiet helps with weight loss but if you stuff your face it still counts. I was eating tons of beans for a while in an effort to feel full but didn't, and also did not lose weight either.
