A group of us are spending 3 days on Islay, mainly visiting distilleries. Staying in AirBnB near Port Ellen. Can anyone recommend places to eat - breakfast/lunch/dinner?

The Oyster Shack

Loch Indaal seafood shed

Sorry both of these will need a driver.
When you're in Port Charlotte don't forget to go to The Loch Indaal Hotel my favourite pub

You can get great boat trips from Port Ellen even across Corryvreckan if you fancy it

Ardnahoe Distillery was really good a few years ago for lunch.  Nice big modern visitor centre with views over to Jura.  And well-priced too.

Yep I was there while waiting on a ferry nice spot for a coffee on a sunny day. No product from the distillery at that time don't know if that's changed now

@allyharp

They're closing that bit down. Shame as I had a lovely scone and coffee there last year and a few drams before lunch.👌

@gordimhor due to release the first edition next month!

Peatzeria in Bowmore- pizza!

Second the Oyster Shack/Shed in Killinallan but a long drive

Machrie Hotel for posh.

SeaSalt Bistro in Port Ellen - run by a Chinese family. Massively eclectic menu that reads like a culinary car crash but they seem to turn out decent stuff to suit extremely varied tastes. Need to book.

an Tigh Seine’s in Portnahaven. Tiny pub on the harbour. Great seafood but check whether they are serving food. You can normally see seals from the door. Long drive!

if you are driving there, then lunch at Loch Fyne brewery, just before Inveraray at Cairndow just off A83. Beer is good too.

Need to book

This is the case, for evening meals at least, pretty much everywhere now. The days of just rocking up are gone. Particularly so in Highlands and islands with staff shortages and increasing tourist numbers.

We had a good meal in the Port Charlotte Hotel.

For dining options on Islay, try places like Port Charlotte Hotel, Oyster Shack, Loch Indaal Seafood Shed, Ardnahoe Distillery, Peatzeria in Bowmore, Machrie Hotel, SeaSalt Bistro in Port Ellen, an Tigh Seinnse in Portnahaven, or Loch Fyne Brewery, but remember to book ahead due to high demand.
