Going to Sat Bains for the weekend - any recommendations for things to do and see in and around Nottingham?
Go to his kitchen, borrow the biggest rolling pin and beat everyone responsible for his website to a pulp, twice.
Tour the caves under the castle in the city centre - a more insightful tour than the "City of Caves" in the Broadmarsh shopping centre.
Have a beer in Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem at the foot of the castle cliff.
Have a coffee in Wired and a mooch round Hockley (the last vestige of indy stores) in Nottingham.
Stand next to the Left Lion at the front of the Town Hall in slab square.
You can ride right into town from Sat Bains - head away from the overpass and round the river/canal (the long way round but prettier than in along Queens Drive).
It's only a small city but it's got a decent vibe - avoid the Yates/Wetherspoon/Star Wars bar crowd on an evening.
Where are you coming from?
Tour of the castle rock brewery is worth it... opposite the railway station
Good call on the brewery tour - any one of the Castle Rock pubs is a good bet. I like the Lincolnshire Poacher for a good pint.
If you like real ale, pop in to Barrel Drop.
If you don't know the city centre, it might be tricky to find, but isn't far from Market square. Pop in to The Bell on the square, come out of the front door and look left - on the opposite side of the road, there is a little alley way - Hurts Yard. It's up there. A little gem of a place.
I second the barrel drop but i think it closes about 10pm keans head, the cock n hoop, the jam cafe all worth a pint or two
Rock city for a gig
Ice stadium for skating
Holme pierrepont for water ski and kayaking
Walks down the river path
Castle grounds to visit
Wollaton hall for taxidermy and to see batmans house and deer
Bestwood countrypark for biking and walking
Vale of belvoir for road biking
Can you tell i live here?
15 miles along the A52 will get you to Derby
Just saying.... 😉
Book a pizza afterwards as you will be hungry.
Nah, joking. His 10 course taster is pretty epic.
Thanks all
The tram is fun. Just go to end of line and come back!
