We're getting married in October and we weren't going to bother with a car. There's a possible change of the future Mrs Beagle's mind (not unheard of, but rare!). Don't want the usual cars and am thinking nice VW - beetle/bus, old merc, something a little different.

Any thoughts people of STW? Just thought there may be a recommendation or two or even someone with a replica A-team van sat around!

avoid stretch cars , VOSA are have a clamp down on them theyll take them off the road if pulled up, wedding or not.

There are some giant vw camper vans knocking round though.

Thanks for the ideas so far, much appreciated. Just been googling the James Bond place. Forgotten that I'd been there years ago! interesting fact re the stretch cars - how gutted would you be, getting kicked out? No big fat gypsy weddings here though fortunately.

Keep em coming ta.

We looked at renting an Aston for the weekend. FIL drops wife to be off at church in it and I drive wife off to reception in it afterwards.

As we were getting married on a Bank Holiday weekend was way expensive so we decided to chop the wifes car in and bought an MX5 for the day instead. Kept it for 5 years and had a great day and loved driving the car till the sprog arrived and put paid to that.

I know someone with a pimped out VW Camper and other really old cars.

He runs his wedding car business with his friend.

Just asked my F-i-L to pop round and ask about the camper.

The owner was on his postal delivery round for 20+ years, so that's how I heard about it 🙂

I have a sneaking suspicion it's these people -> http://broughtonweddingcars.co.uk/our_cars/wedding_cars_gallery.html

Doesn't postierich from the forum have an old VW camper that he hires out for weddings? He's in Lancaster IIRC

The above camper was tongue in cheek.... it needs £2k of work to get on the road, nevermind safely deliver the bride to her wedding!

Thanks for clarifying xiphon, for a second I thought that Beagle may book the top half of a VW van only...(the rest has been eaten by tin worms)

Friend got married in Cambridge years ago. Turned up late to church in a nice white Mercedes. Turns out the vintage Rolls Royce he'd booked was broken down somewhere in the Fens. He'd got the Merc by phoning around the local minicab firms (Taxi sign was in the boot).

When Mr Sunshiner1der and I got married last year we had our friends landrovers, a 110 and a 90, both old but well polished for the occaision.

Loads of fun and the 110 fitted me, my dad and my bridesmaids in all together.

Only warning I would give is, it's not easy to climb into one in a wedding dress!
