Going to a wedding next weekend, church service followed by marquee in the garden type reception.

I really don't feel like wearing my suit all day, it'll be hot, I've got 3 kids to chase around after, and I don't think the groom would give two hoots. Is it still poor form not to wear one though?

Yes. If you wear a suit you can then dress it down later; to remove your jacket and tie if it really is hot and if others are doing the same.

If you wear jeans and a t-shirt you've no chance to dress it up if you're out of place.

You could always take the jacket off at the reception.

Yes its someone special day, so wear a suit and take your jacket off later if its hot.

If its a not quite so formal suit you can wear a shirt that will still look OK if you take your tie off too.

Just wear a shirt and tie, but take a nice coat/jacket with you if it goes cold/rains
