As subject really — can anyone recommend a good restaurant suitable for the occasion? French, maybe?
All suggestions welcome!
The Magdalen arms is very good but a little out of town.
Quod, Gees and the Cherwell boathouse also good. Depends on what kind of atmosphere you're after....
Gees and Cherwell boat house are both good. Proper service, good menu and quality food.
Good to see we agree on restaurants A 🙂
Gee's here too. Not tried Magdalen Arms myself but friend recommends.
The Anchor has reopened, up Hayfield Road. If it's half as good as the previous incarnation it'll be worth a visit.
Mrs work colleague recommended the Spanish restaurant which is run out of St Giles Cafe in the evenings.
Are these places quite posh? Sort of place you could dress up for and have service/food to justify it? That's the kind of thing I'm after.
Pierre Victoire in Little Clarendon St, always had really good service in there (even when it was packed and we were using a raffle-prize voucher), atmospheric, good food.
Go to the Duke of Cambridge a few doors down for happy hour cocktails.
Thanks all, Gee's booked.
Had a lovely meal in Gee's last year...
Used to live just up the road from Gees, although never ate there, it's a very nice spot for a formal do.
