You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Hello,
I have a basic wordpress website, hosted by site 5, on a domain bought from 123reg.
It seems to get hacked every couple of weeks - nothing major, just weird letters in the text etc.
Site5 can do a site restore, but it takes about an hour.
I keep the wordpress side of things as up to date as I can, I check every day.
I use a fancy password generator to set an upper / lowercase plus symbols password.
Is there anything I can do to stop this happening so often?
Many thanks for any advice!
Check the s/w versions of all s/w in your hosted environment and check for known vulnerabilities. If you find any then either hassle the hosting company if they support that bit of s/w or upgrade anything you might have installed yourself.
Check your PC or whatever you use to access it also, run a full malwarebytes scan.
Sure it's a hack and not just some kind of corruption ?
Thanks Smokey, I have installed wordfence as a first port of call.
allthepies, I will look into your comments today.
Oh and delete the standard admin user after creating a differently named admin user.
