firstly, I'm not looking for recommendations for websites to find or post up routes and tracks.

The development trust for our local area carried out a study in 2019 to identify the paths that residents used or would like to see. The report provided a lot of information on local paths and the trust said they would set up a website to display the information and, perhaps, even allow people to upload information. Since the report it has now been a couple of years and the website hasn't materialised. I spoke with the guy working on it and he said they hadn't been able to sort out the software to do this.

I was just wondering if anyone here had experience of a similar requirement and could suggest suitable software for this purpose.  It may be that it would require a custom built solution but there are many mapping websites around so I wouldn't have thought it would be too difficult.

Sounds pretty difficult to me!

If you want to display a single route, then a static page to display that using https://leafletjs.com/ wouldn't be too tricky - although it might be time-consuming to get the route data into GeoJSON format.

But it sounds like you want something like https://www.trailforks.com/ where people can upload routes to your database - and I'm willing to bet there's quite few lines of code behind that website.
